Been carving up a storm. I am at the last stages of completing an interior graphics package for Florida State's new sports Medicine Facility. It has included a wide range of treatments but this is the part that has surely stretched me the most. This is my hand carved HDU interpretation of the Seminole Head logo. Going from a 2 dimensional graphic to 3D takes some interpretation. It has two coats of fiberglass resin and all metallic colors by ModernMasters. I used Dan's Glaze technique, 1/2 paint to 1/2 clear acrylic glaze. Then rag-off strategically. The glaze remainder in the nooks and crevasses brings out the depth. The metallics and pearlescent paints ad a nice luster and also shows off the differing cuts. Again I made a smaller version for my sample wall.
This next one was cut on The Caveman's (Aaron Taylor) Multicam. Tomorrow I shall install it in The State CFO's Office in the Capitol Building. His Office staff drove over to check it out before tomorrow's install, they were very please and said that it exceeded their expectations. Whew!
It was resin coated as well, Painted with a dark metallic bronze paint then Glazed with 1/2 clear to 1/2 black, after drying we rolled a 1/2 gold to 1/2 bronze paint on to the high spots using a rubber inking brayer. laying a thin coat on just the raised spots.

Now it's time to up the ante by building up the glazes, layer after layer from light to dark. Your piece wil become rich and the colors deeper with much more subtle transitions. We teach the technique in our workshops.

Nice work Bob...I recently also used Dan's glazing technique for the first time and was impressed with how easy it was to apply...but best of all...I liked the results.
