G'day all. I'm here at the inlaws & we're having a little trouble with their plotter. It seems like it won't do anything. We tried unplugging it, restarting the computer, checked fuses & its still frozen up. Anyone had this problem before?

Thanks in advance, Felix

Hi Felix,
Not sure if I can help or not. I have the 24" ultra pro.

Is this a new plotter for them or have they had it going before? Does it start up and go through any setup mode? If it won't work at all you'll probably have to call tech support. If it starts up and just isn't receiving any information then you might check to make sure it's on the right port. If you have serial and parallel connections you may want to try the other. Not sure which software you're using but if you have a production manager you may need to set the correct port in it also.

Hope this helps,

I don't know if this will help either, but when I first started up my original 20" plotter, I remember having to choose the specific plotter in the program's cut manager. Mine wasn't listed, and tech help ended up having me go to the disk and look up the plotter on there somewhere seperate.

If this is the first time it's been hooked up, maybe that might give ya a couple ideas. I also have the 24" Ultra Pro - really was happy with it. Hopefully I will be able to unpack it and use it again... eventually...

Felix, I have had this problem before. First, which plotter is it? Has it worked before or is this the first time it's been set-up? Are any of the lights coming on when you power it up?

Felix, What do you mean by "frozen". I have the Ultra Pro 30 and the only problem I've ever had was when it was new! Right out of the box! After removing a couple of covers we noticed the photo eyes on the 2 outer pinch rollers were not blocking the light beam when the lever was placed in the down position (the plotter didn't know what size of media we had in it),so it acted as if it was "frozen".

SOLUTION: We added black electrican tape to the little plastic bars that get pushed up and block the beam when the pinch rollers are locked in the down position.

Plotter has worked flawlessly ever since!

Good Luck!

Hey Guys! Thanks always for the quick resposes.
The model is lynx 24 & no it just won't do anything manually. When we turn it on we can hear the fan running & that's it. you can't move the rollers or anything. We emailed Vinyl Express' tech support but they haven't responded. Anyway any additional help will be appreciated! Thanks again!
