created a nice vinyl graphic on a black dibond panel 14 yrs ago. friend wants it refurbished or replaced. the vinyl has held up well , a few cracks (which don't move when picked with blade), the bkgd faded. it's looks great, but faded. is there a sealer that would give this panel a few more yrs ...or is it best to replace ? thanks for replies
The way I understand it is... The vinyl needs to breath. When it is sealed with a clear coat it will start to lift and crack the clear. I have tried this 2 times with really bad results both times. I thought the first time may have been a fluke so, after warning the customer, I tried again. The second time convinced me, so I have never tried again.

If you're going to replace it you could ask the customer if he wants to experiment first with no guarantee. If so, I would try some Frog Juice. It is very compatible with vinyl so it may be not have the problems Don spoke of. If it works it could give the sign 3 years or more of life.

Vinyl has to breath? Tell that to Harley Davidson, they clear over the Harley tickers on their bikes.
