I have used reflrctive vinyl only a few times. Will BLACK reflective show up well , at night, on an ivory painted background?

Probably not. It lights up silvery white, so not much contrast to the ivory. All other reflective colors light up the same color as when they are in daylight. Black is the opposite. I used it on some police cars a few years back and when I would see them around I knew I should have used non-reflective on the black. The customers thought it was fine but I think they often don't really understand what they're looking at. Black reflective vinyl is probably best used for stripes and shapes that do not have to be read.

I agree with Chuck. Black reflective does NOT work well for lettering.

Dark blue is almost as bad.

thank you for the feedback. I will probably go with a green reflective on an ivory background. My own mailbox is painted an Olympic blue with the number and named in yellow reflective vinyl with black outline. That shows up really bright at night with headlights. This sign will be hung near the mailbox on a country road with no street lights. The business is classes held mostly at night.

Thanks again.

Diane
