A few months ago I took a graphic design position at a large screen printing company in Little Rock- they are a large, fast moving, successful operation that is currently providing t-shirts for over 150 colleges/universities across the US, as well as some major retailers.
A few weeks in, I was promoted to Art Director and currently have 3 other young artists under me. With 24 years in the business, and 14 of those involved running my own operation, I was able to bring quite a bit of experience to the table.
They have state of the art equipment, everything works correctly, and it is the cleanest print shop I have ever seen. The people are pretty good to work with, so it may turn into a long term relationship.
We also recently updated to a new Roland large format printer/cutter, so I have been enjoying working on a few sign related projects with some of our clients. It has been interesting passing on some sign design principles to some of the younger designers who have never been around the sign industry.
I still have my shop, but I have limited the amount of work I have running thru it.
