O.K., Richardo...I'll bite. Why do you have to plug the LIX into the computer? It just manipulates melted plastic doesn't it? Kind of a wood burner tool in plastic? Jer/ Artworx

I have no idea....You would have to do some more research on the LIX, in order to find out.
Someone sent me this video and I just thought it would be an interesting subject for controversy, in Letterville, which I believe has started, already.
By the way, I still use pencil and paper for my drawings.

Yes! I put that on my Christmas list Ricardo, but it hasn't been released yet. Gerald, I'm not sure if it needs to be plugged in as a power source? maybe. As I understand it, the unit would need to 1)melt the plastic rods and 2) control flow. I don't know why a battery wouldn't suffice. ah...it looks like fun.

It's a pretty cool thing, Ricardo; but I think I'll wait a year or so, to let them evolve a little. Most of these things (even 3D printers) had some bugs, early-on, and it takes a little time to get things worked out.

Using batteries for heat would suck them dry very quickly. I'm sure they could have just used a power supply, but a USB plug is cheap and would work in any tablet, laptop or PC. It is actually quite a breakthrough when you look at the other 3D pens out there. The others are huge.
