Nancy and I will be flying to the Walldog event. It is our hope to limit ourselves to 2 carry-on cases. Will the Airlines let us carry on a few quills and fitches??? This is the first time I am flying to an event. Perhaps some of flyers can instruct me?

Just don't tell the security they're "quills". They'll probably freak, thinking they're porcupine quills.....and you might be going to stab someone
They're actually about that anal........!

I've never carried them on, but if they ask you what they are keep it simple. Not quills and fitches... Artist Brushes is sufficient. Hopefully they will understand that. Have fun, wish I was there bud.

I've never carried them on board, but put them in my checked luggage and mark them "Artist Brushes" and have had no problems.
However, Glen W. just had all of his striping brushes and quills confiscated by security - and they were stored in his luggage. Didn't get them back, either.
I'm pretty sure the oil in the brushes would be a no-no for carry on...dumb, but still a no-no.

No wisdom here, brother; you should know that by now.
Seriously (for a moment) I think Raymond's plan would be a good one. Just probably dry the brushes, so they don't attract any undue attention, and re-oil them when you get where you're going. No harm done. Have a great time!

Ray ...I've never had a problem because I know that my luggage will be opened because my quills are in a metal case.
After loading it into the X-ray machine, I stand there waiting for it to come out and Security to open the suitcase.
As he takes the case out and opens it, I say "Be careful with those. They are sign painter's brushes and so are the ones in that white box ... you are looking at almost a month's take home pay!"
They give you that 'deer in the head lights' look and carefully put them back in the suitcase.
