So it seems to me that some of our residents have moved to a new town called Facebookville. I haven't been there yet and I ain't a goin' thar. I much better prefer out little town of Letterville. There's just too many faces at Facebookville.

Alicia ... Just a few positives / negatives, my 2 cents.

The biggest positive / negative...is all the eye candy from so many great artists like yourself to any form of what is your liking & how much you can stand or enjoy seeing all this eye candy.

Myself I started using from another human contact source, ( reason my full name is different )

Now the reasons have changed & sign related has taken priority & the 1st reason is small % as well as others I've liked.

I do believe with looking & reading at this site & others related not FB type that you get the same eye candy sign related.

David...Obviously it shouldn't be one or the other.

I tried Facebook for a couple of months, but to me it was way too "invasive" and "pervasive". Seemed to me that everyone saw everything I saw, even though I was just checking out comments related to my Mexican friends.

I opted out of Facebook after a couple of months but it took over 6 months for facebook "e-mail" messages to finally quit arriving.

I'll never "click on" nor reply to anything that involves facebook.

I'll just stick to old fashioned forums like this.

I like this one. Dont care for the atmosphere at FB, especially with all the ads. Also, I cant figure out how half of it works.

Facebook has seen many many forums take a big nosedive in input.

I guess that is somehow labelled 'progress' by those steering the Facebook machine.

F'bk has varied in its invasiveness etc over time.
I have a 'profile', but as far as I know, it's visible to 'friends only'.

It's ease & speed helps-I guess human nature follows the paths of ease or laziness a lot.

It's been good for catching up with relatives and old friends of a non-sign field, as well as signies.

I can't see F'bk ever 'undoing' what they've created. They want people to set up business pages and use them as their websites instead of having their own URLs and many do just that as it's 'easy'.

Interesting business plan...

I still like Letterville though!

I agree with David. Why does it have to be one or the other? And frankly, some of these forums are starting to seem like a gathering of retirees. I'm sure I'll get blasted for saying that.

Letterville is always my first stop when cruising the internet. I've got a Facebook page for the business and a personal page - half the time I don't know what I'm doing when I'm on there, so I tend to stay away. Also have LinkedIn - the groups are interesting. I'll go to other sign sites, but Letterville is where I can relate the best. It's too bad we've lost a lot of people in the past few years. I guess it's a combination of a bad economy and people getting p***** off at each other- you know how grumpy old people get. [Big Grin]

I really enjoy facebook alot, for so many reasons. I still poke in here a few times a week though. This is still THE SPOT for me with regards to our business.

I have a great many interests. Facebook lets me tap into them all and I can connect with various people. It's just more diverse for me.

I realize that with every social medium, there are down sides. A lot has to do with how you apply it in your life.

As with everything, it's all about balance.

Facebook is a fabulous way to connect! I just fired up a junk group and all these non bloggers are able to show their junk creations quickly and easily! Pretty cool.

But that certainly doesn't mean there isn't a place for any form of social media. It's been my experience that there's a community of customers / readers in every single venue on the net. None of them are a waste of effort if you access what's available to you in the right way for the right reasons.

Pinterest drives a TON of traffic to my blog. It's my #1 referrer.

Facebook is a close second. Grow your numbers and interest and you have yourself more viewers than you can handle. If that's possible...

Twitter, Instagram, G+... they all have a place. Just gotta tap into them enough to know how to utilize them.

A private forum of your own (company)... you start getting those that rub shoulders with your own passion and they become an audience that sees your logo many MANY times a day. That's great advertising in my book.

But I do love the quiet format of Letterville and will always linger here, no matter how far away I get from signs.

Signed... social media junk maniac aholic. [Smile]

I like facebook for its eye candy, whether signage, pinstriping, paint, cars and a whole bunch of stuff I am into. letterville once took all my spare time and I loved it and now there is a whole new world where almost everything and everyone is now there. No censorship, cussing is welcome, wanna be a religious nut, gun nut, beer nut or wino, that's ok! Almost every living icon is only a click away whether it be Jurek' Tramp or the king of customizers. Mopar nopar, chevy, ford or antiques, striping, airbrushing, tattooing, furniture, gardening right up to organic juicing and tiny houses and everything you ever wanted to know about. What's not to like?

See, now my brain jus can't handle all of that. I'd much rather talk to all of those people in person over a cup of coffee. Next time I drive pass you house Joey, I'll have to stop for coffee or tea. I'm old fashioned that way.

On Facebook, you choose what you want to be involved in along with who. You do not have to read the rants of idiots if you choose not to, the block feature may just be the best thing on there.
