I am so lucky,...first he makes he makes me so proud to volunteer just after 9/11,then he makes me a grandpa,...now he will be inducted into the USAF Thunderbirds this month,.....looks like those 3 tours of active duty are going to pay off,....

he is not a pilot Jay,...he's a crew chief,...he "allows" the pilot to fly his plane once he makes sure it is ready to fly,...this will include graphics and above normal maintenance,....there are only about 150 USAF personnel in this unit and they are supposedly the best of the best,....

As a soldier, hence the Letterheads nickname of Army Dave to distinguish me from all of the other Daves, are USAF members considered to be "soldiers" in the US? Here in Oz it would be taken as quite an insult.

tim, i was adding to the point of what an honor it is to be chosen for duty in that squadron. i was CHOSEN to refuel their aircraft when they came to the base i was stationed. I WAS VERY PROUD......to be THE ONLY DRIVER to service them out of all the people in the fuels section. when they land their ground crew on any base, only a select few(from that base ground crew) are picked to work closely with the permanent thunderbird crew. and iam happy for him to have that honor. it is one of the highlights of my service. and tell him for me, thank you for serving.

Loud n proud, is a good thing! Congrats to you also for having some positive influence along the way. I have a niece that has been to Iraq 3 times as well. Between her first and second Tour she gave birth to a baby boy, and after some time off went right back! She's a career soldier and she does make us all proud. A feel good post here.

edited to add,...my daughter inlaw who married my son in the Air Force was a member of the Illinois Air Force National Guard on a tour of active duty when she first met my son,...between the two of them they have a total of 4 tours,..not trying to outdo anyone here just trying to give credit to the ladies in uniform too,...
