Has anyone here ever done one of these or know someone in the industry who has?

I haven't done one Kelly but after looking at the fine tile work in the NY subway system, I would love to try it. You might want to search a bit for NY subway mosaic artists....I found this in a quick search.
I did design the master tiles for a cold cast metal tile process while I lived out in Vermont. I thought that this material would make an excellent mural also.

Dale that link was pretty cool! I was scrolling through them and was also listening to the last part of the "labrynth" with David Bowe in happened to be on the television tonight (one of my most fav movies) and it he's singing "the underground" ... interesting! I feel connected.
Wow, the NY subways didn't look like that when I was there back in 1972!

going back to my prof at penn state, he was a contemporary and had worked with 2 of the worlds greatest potters, HAMADA of japan, and BERNARD LEECH of great Britain. i also have a lawyer friend from clevland ohio, who while stationed in japan(early 50's)took pottery lessons from HAMADA. i never knew this till one day i was talkin to him on the phone and tellin him about the pottery eqip i purchased. he then said he also did pottery while in japan.

Both are great and inspirational. You have to click on some of the painted tiles and see the "tiny" individual piece and then go back and see it as a part of the whole. So neat!
