Moved into cabin permanently... The view from here...

First pics are views from inside looking out... these are pics I took at 7:30 this morning

Kinda nice living on the edge of a lake at the bottom of a ski hill... No neighbours at all except for Alpine and Cross country ski clubs. Can put my alpine skis on at the door and 54k of world class x-c trails run over the property, these trails were laid out in the 80's by American ski legend Bill Koch, the American National team used to train here before artificial snow came along. And they've hosted a world cup race there. Skidoo trails link into Labrador System.

Have permanent water, the orange marker on front is head of 475' deep well that hit a spring, have hydro, telephone and internet.

Summer I drive to door, in winter the x-c club grooms right to my door, a short 175 yard walk takes me to my car; snowmobile and four wheeler are always there for lugging. There's a pontoon boat under one of those snowdrifts for summer use.

I used a clear polycarbonate sheeting for the windows on the deck, looks somewhat like clear coroplast. The bifold construction lets me open them completely. Hot tub and bbq are usable year round, rain or shine.

Almost total isolation yet it takes only 5 minutes to get to work in mornings.

Been renovating all winter, transitioning from cabin to permanent residence. Put in solid pine walls and hardwood floors throughout; bathroom is completed, pine, ceramic, modern stand up shower and washer/dryer; new kitchen should be finished in a couple of weeks.

The beauty and tranquility of the place is beyond compare, I count my blessings everyday...

Looks like a good spot for ice fishing. I'll bet it's pretty in the summer.

Great, Mike!
This was the welcome view from here, on the 3rd of March-a new foal born! (six months out-of-season, but nice all the same!)

This was yesterday's view. I took the grandkids camping over the weekend at Lake Mineral Wells State Park about ninety miles from here. On Sunday, we were collecting fossils with the grandchildren at the Mineral Wells Fossil Park (I know... they already had a large old fossil with them) when my grandson yelled, "Snake!" I'd just stepped over a beautiful juvenile Western Diamondback rattlesnake. I picked it up by the tail and then with our small hand rake. Even though it was 80°, it was very mellow and non aggressive. I showed the grandkids its black and white stripes, small rattles, heat sensitive pit and elliptical pupils and then let it go. My granddaughter wanted to pet it. I didn't let her.

Mike, that looks fantastic!

Good for you.

I live in a remote area also and I agree with the solitude.

Peace,
Bob

Snow is great when you never have to shovel it... note the extended roofs over front and back porches... planning ... planning... [Smile]

Honestly haven't spent 10 minutes shovelling all year

Big snowstorm last night... both doors are completely clear of snow, I'll probably take the skidoo to the parking lot which the town has already cleared, might make a half hour detour for the fun of it [Smile]

Awesome! I'm with Brent, I'd be ice fishing every spare minute. Enjoy, Mike. Probably would need a bigger auger than mine for the huge Muskies and Pikes that are likely in there.
