I always enjoy seeing the new samples and things you guys are cranking out. Anything new this month?
My latest challenge was to create a new desk. With no budget of course. That latter part is now an official sickness. My goal is to spend nothing when making something. Think I've gone too far?
I knew I loved striping firetrucks for a reason. Free pallet wood from their back 40 boneyard! This stuff was oak and it was amazing.
Did I know what I was doing? Not really. But I laid out what I wanted to do on the driveway first, then actually built it in the spot it would ultimately land.
Dan happened to come by while I was figuring out the framework. He gave me one quick tip for the legs and I was off and running.
Oh. And those cedar planks came from my moving neighbor wanting to get rid of them. Perfect...
I did it! From scratch! Total cost was $3 for new screws. I still may 'crate' up the top with some kind of design. But for now, my 16 foot free desk is rock steady and has inspired me to finish up the rest of the room.
A room I once detested has officially become a junker's magnet. I can't stay out of it! And seeing as this was my first build from scratch, I'm officially calling myself a real builder now.

Now that is my kinda desk. I can feel the sense of accomplishment from making do with what you have. That is recycling at it's finest. Good job Donna!
