We were thinking about making a walking path on the sidewalks downtown to "steer" people to places of interest like the murals and new cars. Any ideas? I would think what type of paint would be an issue but also just a colored line, footprints, tire tracks, ??? Just thought you clever people would have ideas!

Back when We lived in Chemainus (famous for it's murals) I grew tired of people constantly asking where the murals all were. 400,000 people a year came to see them. I started painting footprints through the town one night. Once the powers that be got over the shock they decided it was a good idea and officially sanctioned it. We used yellow paint used for the road markings. They lasted a long time but about every five years or so we'd freshen them up.

Several if not most all name brands have a two part porch and concrete paint that should work fine,...they are designed to be walked on and stand up to the wear and tear from foot traffic,..I know for a fact duron makes a water based paint that you can get in many colors,....so that tells me several others will as well as most of the commercial brands of paint are made by only two or three manufacturers who print different labels for the different brands at one facility for several brands.

Since you have cars and dogs and murals all painted...maybe paint brushes painted on the sidewalk. First I thought paw prints for the walldogs, but the cars kinda changed that. Everything is hand painted. So paint brushes or faux paint splashes. Stencils create too much overspray, dense foam rubber on a stick works best.
