Have you seen this show,, Paul Truck Lettering Why does he think that him and his half-wit girlfriend are quilified to apply vinly lettering? If it had been me, it would have become another youtube video, comedy section. I bet he doesn't allow his customers to "finsih off his bikes' when he's working on them. I'm gonna email his ass.

It's not rocket surgery that they were attempting (and accomplished it seems from the pictures on the site). I didn't see the show but have no doubt that they looked like bumbling monkeys doing it (hence, why I don't watch the show).
What would Nub care? I'm sure he's got way cooler things to create instead of wasting time applying vinyl. The guy is so talented/skilled (and a nice guy) it would have been a let down for me to see him do it.

He came out to Winfield's party with Mr. J, East Coast Artie, Howie Nisgor and a couple others.... they were in So Cal for about a week going to visit Chip Foose and some of the other hot rod shops and custom painters in the area....

Mark, when I typed, Nub can't be very happy, ya think? I was typing about the paint vs vinyl thingie, not that Nub would want to do the vinyl thingie.
I truly believe that what I typed was true and easily understood, oh well

Okay I emailed his ass. I told him his logo looks like a gay crown. I also made a few suggestions.

He really is an arrogant Prima Donna who feels his contribution is better than all others. Did you hear his girlfriend say he criticizes all her ideas and later when he uses them he takes credit.
The crew all seem glad he is gone and the design end hasn't suffered.
My god the sign people were standing right there let them do there job for crying out loud.

As big of a gearhead as I am, I find it very difficult to watch any of the car/bike shows on TV, way to overdone and/or wrought with drama. Leave the stunts out, leave the pranks out, leave the dramaout, leave the window dressing babes out and just build the damn car/bike!!!!
Sorry, but I just want to hear Ozzie sing, I don't give a flyin' .... about his family.

George, there's a big difference between showing a scripted segment on TV, trying to prove the talent of someone and that same person telling people on their website to apply there own lettering.

It's truly a shame that commercial TV has sunk to such a desparate low that crap shows like this are even on. Like George said, phony drama, family issues, staged personality clashes and the like are disgusting. And they lead many unsuspecting viewers and young people to believe that this is how screwed-up real life is.
Obviously, this clown has talent, but sign work is not it. Trying to display creativity and expertise in this manner only serves to make him look inept. If he wants to really impress us, why don't he pick up a brush?

I have a lot of customers who apply their own vinyl as well, the ones who are from out of town anyway. I don't have a problem with it, I give them some pointers, how to clean the surface, how to use the hinge method, and so forth.. just yesterday a customer picked up $500 worth of lettering for his fleet of buses, this is the fourth time he's done this, and also he has started up a contracting business and asked me to design a logo, and he also wants decals for 6 trucks once the design is done which I have just about finalized.... don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
George I agree with you on all the drama that goes on that show..I actually turned it off many many times because of all the ranting and shouting taking place.. I found it disturbing... I actually think that Paul Jr. had a lot of vision when it came to building bikes, but I don't know about all this new crap..not a fan at all.

that is a crappy ass logo reminds me of those damn crowns people were placing on their dashboards a few years ago, i actually think they were air fresherners.
hey laicia you should make a video stressing why pay american chopper builders thousands of dollars when you can order your chopper from korea and install the seat and handlebar grips yourself. And when you put the grips on use crisco, tell them jesses james uses it and so will you!

Nub Still runs his graphics shop. I believe he has moved it to a barn at his new home a few miles from where he used to be. Nub is probably the most down to earth person that ever stepped foot on that show. I have heard alot of his war stories from that place. So I'm sure he doesnt miss the place one bit.
If you ever get a chance to go look at their tv show bikes from a few years ago, and you know anything about quality fabrication, you will realize that the camera hides eveything. If it wasnt for the paint work on the bikes, even when Jason did them. The bikes would have never sold. My cat can weld better.

I know the air freshener crowns were popular way too long and became lame and a point of ridicule. But the logo that JR now has now is fine from my perspective. I'd appreciate some feedback on what elements make it a bad logo. I don't design many logos, but need to learn the do's and dont's for future opportunities. We got Dan Antonelli's two books and can appreciate his style...but his style is not something that comes easy to emulate.

Yeah, actually all the drama and other crap aside, I thought the logo design was pretty cool. Making the crown into the word jr was pretty inventive. I actually watch the show every week, and pretty much enjoy it, all the fussin' and everything. Its better than watching them dang 18 kids and whatever, lol.

Okay here I go. If you did not know who Paul Jr. is, and you saw his truck, would you think "Custom bike designer/builder? I don't. Personally unless your name says it all, like Chanel, Versace, LL.Bean, you might have to step it up a notch for proper reconigtion. Can you imagine if he would have hired someone like Diaz or Antonelli to design the whole branding package. Now that would have been something I'd like to see.

If someone brings in a cuttable project, you cut it and mask it, and let them apply it themself, Why not?
Charge for the vinyl, charge for the cutting/weeding/masking.
Charge for shop space by the hour.
Charge for mistakes they might make.
Sounds like a great way to just sit back, enjoy a laugh and pick up some bucks???
