Hi Joe, I haven't tried it, but I have heard of it. It's produced by Houston Art.
"HOUSTON ART-Metal leaf adhesive is an outstanding product that can not only used for metal leaf but other materials such as sand glitter and many craft and home decor projects. It is waterbased slow drying and will stay tacky for up to 24 hours after its application. This spray on adhesive contains 6 ounces and is gold."
When I looked at it the reviews I found were all positive, but were from "crafts" people not professionals.

actually this product is made by Mona Lisa and Houston art is Mona Lisa's home. Their variegated leaf is good as I've and many persons I know use it. Actually Wunda size is water based so this gottawork just as well only in spray, may be great for use with masks.
To say that this is used by crafts people and not professionals seems odd to me as if that were the case then where would craftsman come from?
only joking Kelly, don't get your weird

There are advantages to using water based size. And I'm not talking about the kind you buy at the craft store. Most of the silver leaf striping here in the Northwest is applied with Wunda size, which is water based. Those, besides myself that have used it successfully for many years, include the likes of Mitch Kim, Paul Comeau, John Hannukaine, Don King, etc.
Advantages include fast dry time and long open time. No sensitivity to top coat clears or solvents. It also has a superior tack, which is nice when applying the stronger leafs such as aluminum or verigated varieties. It can be tricky to apply to larger areas without getting brush strokes, thus the spray technique.
Just be aware that if you are going to mask the area to be sized, you need to remove the mask immediately.... before the size dries or you will have ragged edges.

I have seen others use this product and it had quite a bit of Orange Peel, probably because the water based stuff is thicker in viscosity than solvent based. Try a sample first.

I've been airbrushing size (LeF&B) for at least 20 years and it's always produced a great job, lasting for ...well, outlasting the clients business'. I agree with Joey about yanking off the mask as soon as it's sized. If you're going to outline the letters it's not a big deal tho but still, you have to pull it off sometime and sooner is better than later. Besides, who can resist pulling it off when it's wet anyway?
