What brand of shoes do you wear while working which give you less fatigue?

Getting older I find myself needing more shoes than the 30 pair I have as it seems that the only ones I have are dress shoes and I will not put my feet into runners or sneakers because I don't like the look or the value. I do however wear Crocs not only because of the comfort but because of the wild color selection. Steve Kafka turned me on to them some time back and I've been wearing them since. My other shoes are New Balance, Allen Edmonds, Clarks and Rockports.

I wear Merrell's light hiking shoe. It works well with standing on concrete floors all day.

IT'S THE SHOES GIVING ME ALL THIS FATIGUE? [Eek!]

Well I am glad someone figured that out, I thought it was my age, man am I lucky! [Rolling On The Floor]

Joe, I wear Merrell's in the fall and winter and Reeboks in the summer.

I have radiant heat for my shop rooms and that keeps the cement floors warm, for standing all day cold cement is not good for anyone.

I wear New Balance walking shoes most of the time. They give good support, and are comfy most of the day. I also have a pair of Brahma hi-tops with steel toes, that I wear if I'm going to be doing any heavy-duty stuff.

Never really got into Crocs. Just me. They look like they'd be hot.....make your feet sweat. Most plastic/rubber shoes do. I don't mind some of their styles, but they're kinda pricey too.

What about gel inserts? Just a thought because I don't see them mentioned here yet. Me, I wear almost anything, but have my best luck when I buy hiking shoes that look like rugged sneakers. I can understand you not caring for their looks, but the value is there for durability and comfort. I get mine at Eastern Mountain Sports, a local outdoor/camping chain.

Actually Dale, Crocs do not make your feet sweat are very comfortable and conform to your feet they are made from Anti-bacterial/Anti-fungal/odor-resistant Croslite which is patented by them. You can get more information here http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_croslite

During this month of July Crocs offers free shipping and whenever there is a sale they email you

Inserts are fine but in great footwear, there is no need for them.

To me, sneakers and runners have always smelled after awhile because of the close quarters where your feet doesn't really breath well, just my opinion

I used to wear New Balance but the quality seems to have dropped off. Also, I don't like the look of most of what they offer. Switched to Sketchers and like them a bunch. Winter time I switch over to hiking boots. Ozark Trail from Wal Mart. Cheap and comfortable. Wear like crazy.

Croc's....gotta love em. Fist time I ever saw a pair was right after they came out. A customer had a purple pair he wanted LSU lettered on. He said they were the most comfortable thing he ever had on his feet. I laughed to myself. Denise and I both bought a pair of offbrand Crocs at Payless, just to have something to slip on to take the dog out. I wear them when walking the dog, going to the store, working and, yes they are extremely comfortable. I don't even bother with the strap.

Rockports!! They are the only shoes I wear for work. I've only gone through 4 pair in the last 14 years. They are butt ugly but I've never worn any other shoes that made me feel so much less tired at the end of the day.

I bought some grey mats from Home Depot. They interlock like a jig saw puzzle and I put them along all the pathways and in front of all my workstations. At $12 for 16 sq ft they are cheap, and they have made an incredible difference in fatigue at the end of the day. People coming into the shop often comment on them and ask where they can get them.
As for shoes, I usually buy a pair and wear them till they fall apart. I have a tough time finding anything that is comfortable and so once I get past the pain of breaking them in, they become my favourite shoes.
I like being barefoot or in moccasins best.

I've been buying what ever is on closeout at Dunhams. My last pair was Asics which have been pretty good, light and comfortable but not so great for work on the concrete.

But on what Joey said, I just ordered a pair of Crocs 5 miinutes ago. Not only free shipping but 15% off today only.

I wear Buddies...that's what my kids jokingly call the Wal-Mart brand...I wore Buddies so they could wear the best basketball shoes growing up...I raised 4 basketball players so I've bought alot of expensive shoes...I guess the investment paid off because 2 of them played college ball on scholarships...the kids are gone now so the other day I went out and paid $125 for a pair of New Balance...I wound up giving them away and pulling my old Buddies out of the closet...However I do indulge myself and buy the best inserts to go with my Buddies.

A few years ago I when I would go to bed my legs would throb and ache.

My wife found Brooksrunning.com. You can buy shoes with inserts that help compensate pronation.

I nearly keeled over when I found out how much she paid for them. But I have to say, after a couple days of wearing them, the leg pain went away completely.

Nobody has mentioned those....can't remember the name of them....but they have coil springs on the heel. They advertise they're the best shoes for people on their feet. No one here has tried them?

Oh....Z-Coil, that's the name. They look pretty strange, but they may really do the job. I can just see me walking with a strip of vinyl or a wad of scotch tape all balled up in the springs.

I hear they're good.
Like Ricky said, Rockports too.
Here in FL where it's baking right now, I'm wearing Adidas "superstar" flipflops when I'm knocking around the shop. They have foam, feel like you're walking on pillows, and they're cool.

Julia, it is nice to hear from you in one respect but to hear of Michael's passing for the first time here on the forum blows me away as I never knew. For those who don't know who Michael Saint is, Michael and I have been great friends throughout the 60's and 70's as we both were brought up in L.I. We built and drove drag race cars, went 200mph in the early 60's, partied both in Hollywood Ca and Hollywood Fl. worked together in Canada at Conklin Shows and painted both vehicles and carnival rides together way before he settled in Stuart. Michael introduced me to Duke Ash and all 3 of us worked on a project or two at one time or another, Michael actually took Duke's place after he passed working for Deggeller Shows.

I will miss my friend
