Well, Friday night I started getting a familiar sharp pain in the back of my throat Friday night quickly followed by some stuffiness.
My wife caught a pretty bad cold 2 weeks ago and is still fighting it. She went to the doctor this morning for some antibiotics.
I started taking some Cold-Eze when she got sick. While it didn't stop me from getting her cold, it does seem to have helped lessen the severity of it. If things continue the way the are, I'll probably be over it in another day or so.

Mine is an onion sandwich. Thick slices of onion, salted, with mayo and a slice of cheese.
My dad was a firm believer in ginger brandy for colds.

Good old fashioned lemon juice plus a teaspoon of sugar and a good dollop of medicinal whisky in boiling water. It might not cure the cold but you sure do feel warm after drinking it

The reason fresh garlic works so well in preventing illness is that if you eat enough of it, no one will get within range of you to give you what they have.

The easiest way is to not get them in the first place. Quit using disinfectants to clean your house, eat food you drop on the floor, and you'll build an immunity.
This dirty white boy don't get colds!

The only difference is I use Honey in place of the sugar.
Also.....you have to slug it down as hot as you can drink it! No sipping!

Well I wouldn't go to a doctor for antibiotics if I only had a cold unless there was a secondary (bacterial) infection of some kind...colds are not bacterial they are viral...antibiotics attack bacterial infections not viruses...if you use antibiotics for everything they wont be as effective for you when really needed for future bacterial infections...it's usually been a 7 day duration for me too...it's hard to do but when around people with colds wash hands often and try not to touch eyes, nose, or mouth where virus enters body.

I don't get them anymore. I never miss my daily dose of liquid colloidal minerals.
I have felt many colds coming on, the beginning of a sore throat, slight stuffiness or runny nose, but every time by the next day all symptoms are gone. When I first started taking the minerals, there were times I would forget to order. When I'd go off of them for a while, sure enough, I'd get a cold. Many people on these minerals say colds and flu are a thing of the past. I haven't missed my daily dose for over 2 years now and haven't had a cold or flu since.
Edit: Sorry this doesn't help you for your current cold.

Dayquil during the day, Nyquil at nite. And a big bowl of homemade, real homemade, Chicken Matzo Ball Soup. If you can't make it at home have some delivered from Canter's Restaurant on Fairfax, near Hollywood, Ca.

Alicia, I was at Canters this past summer and to tell you the truth, its nothing like it used to be even the Pastrami sandwich was living on reputation and left a lot to be desired. I personally have the recipe from the original Ben's in Rego Park NY where I grew up so to speak for their Matzo Ball and chichen soup and if that’s not enough, Ben’s Best matzo ball chicken soup is superb and in 1986 Ben’s Best surveyed 110 grandmothers and found 104 stand behind chicken soup as opposed to over-the-counter remedies

Nancie, save your money. Latest research shows vitamin C does nothing to fight off a cold. In fact, the latest research shows vitamin supplements are for the most part totally useless. Unless your diet is total crap, you get enough vitamins from food.
Now mineral supplements.... that's a different story.

I take zinc tablets at the first hint of one. I believe zinc is the main ingredient in Cold-Eze. It works. I just avoided my husband's bad cold.
