Looks like you figured around 12 hrs @ 75.per hr. sort of. I would have said it would take 16-18 hrs to do @75.per hr. and brought it up to $1200.00 for the whole deal. Plus materials. And that's still a bit low.

Ya know Jack you are correct.I figured 12 hrs.. I figured about $11 sq ft (77 sq ft + $75 material.. but it seems a bit low.. I told them 800- 1000 and judged the look on their face... Figured I'd better keep it nearer to the 800 mark... and with todays econnomy and no new cars to stripe ( far and few between) this might be something i would want to tackle.

I agree with that PeeWee, you never know where the next job is coming from. Hope it stays OK for you. I just saw the money dryin'up somewhat down in Sactown. When Clines, is slow ya know it's slow. I'm retired and glad.

"What would you charge?" "Starting wage?" "How much do you expect to earn?" etc . . .
Answer:
As MUCH as POSSIBLE.
But hey, you did'nt mention whether this is cut-out MDO (which would require an enormous amount of sanding & sealing time), and include install?, or cut-out of factory-finished aluminum (virtyually ready to paint with some edge filing)(& install?), OR painted directly on the wall . . .
all price-deciding factors in my area bro . . .
PS: NEVER hang your head regardless of high or low price. Just do good work regardless of price.
It'll come back around.

$850 does sound cheap. However...you could say that if they want airbrush shading or a drop shadow, it will be an additional $___. And add so much for tarting it up. That gives the client an option and makes them feel like they are in control. Never undervalue wall painting, very few can do it. (And I wouldn't make "& SHIPPING" in a casual) Love....Jill

I quoted them this morning $864 + $75 made it a bit smaller and bumped it up to $12 sq ft material... got my sword stripers crossed..two years ago and since 2000 I could count on 2-3 new cars a week to stripe (@ $210 starting price) and do this april to december... this year 1 NEW car in a month and a half..ouch! Good thing I kept that day job! :)Editted to add .. Which by the way isn't so bad.. Now I spend more time with my hobbies. So my weekends are now spent flying my Radio control helicopters and planes 'til noon.. and twice a month riding the Sand dunes in nevada.. oh ya.. and hangin' with Tony Hawk..

$850 would work here. Project at night. Use an indelible pen for the layout. Block out entire sign with fast drying background enamel. Letter when dry. Eight hours or less total time.

I could do that in 8 hours too George. $850 would be about what I would have charged too.

Hmm, let me see. Design it, 45 minutes, I'm kinda sloooow. Make a pattern at nite, wit the opague projector, naw, use the plotter instead, and tape it together, 1 hour. Put all the stuff in the truck, including scaffolding, 1 hour. Put up my scaffold and the pattern, pounce it, then wash my face and re-apply my make-up. 2 hours. Clean up the artwork, get out the paint, then lunch, 2 hours. Start painting, more painting, more painting, finally done. Put all the stuff away. Yeah, I'd do it for $850.00 plus sales tax.

$850 sounds about right to me. I have an eyeball knockout type of style that I could do freehand without projecting, pouncing,or stenciling anything. Just eyeballing everything.
I would offer them the knockout job for about $550 or the super clean "exactly as you see on the proof" job for in between $800 and $1000.
