Last week My laptop took a turn for the worse and crashed. I'm running XP and have had 4 years of trouble free usage.
It turned out to be a memory simm that was bad. After replacing it though it would appear there are other issues going on. One is my settings in OUtlook express had been wiped out. After resetting them, I can log into my email and receive but cannot send at all.
What happens is as soon as I create or reply to an e-mail outlook crashes.
Can anyone recommend a solution or another email program that will import all emails from outlook express?
I have run virus software, I was using AVG and since have installed AVAST. both have turned up nothing.
I will add I do believe I have hardware issues going on, the machine gets hotter than a match, and when it does the main screen starts flickering. I occasionally still get blue screens. And I am in the middle or researching a new machine.
But in the mean time I need to respond to certain emails.

Hey Bob, sounds like to me your cooling fan has burned up. Elaine knows what she's talking about... try Thunderbird.
Also, I don't know who your email is through, but almost all of the providers have webmail interfaces. You can go into Outlooks settings and find the "Leave copy of message on server" setting and turn it on... then log onto your webmail to send out your replies. You won't have a copy of your reply in Outlook, but at least you can respond to the emails. Just another option in case your computer freaks out when you try to install Thunderbird.
