My family suffered a great loss yesterday. My aunt Ag passed away. Today would have been her 90th birthday. She had been diagnosed with an aneurysm about two years ago, one that would have killed her if operated upon. So she opted not to have it repaired and lived out the rest of her life with the same quiet grace as ever. (Just as she survived breast cancer, a terrible car accident, and the deaths of four of her children and her husband over the years and also 9 of her 16 siblings) She had a delightful laugh, a twinkle in her eye, and was much loved by everyone. Our family had gathered in for a party in her honor, which was planned for yesterday. People had come in from several states, and there was even an article written about her in a local paper: Agnes But she took ill last week, and the party had to be cancelled. Ag was hospitalized briefly, then permitted to return home. Yesterday she slipped into a coma. Her family was at her side. Her daughter asked the nurse if it would be OK if they all sung Happy Birthday to Ag. And as the last strains of the song faded, my aunt Agnes passed on. What a beloved treasure she was. Love....Jill

2008: Agnes is in the middle. My nieces call the old aunts "The Q-Tips" while others call them "The White Heads" Ag is in the center. She always had her hair fixed "just so". Posts: 8834 | From: Butler, PA, USA | Registered: Jan 2001

I'm really sorry too, Jill. While it's hard for us left behind, you can take comfort in the fact that she is in a better place and is very happy right now to have rejoined her husband, children and other family members who have already passed on.

We can tell by what and how you wrote about her what a dear lady she was, Jill. What a wonderful way to go, though, with her family around her, singing her out. All of us here are so sorry for your loss. Be comforted by your wonderful memories of her.

My deepest sympathy. Many of have a dear relative who has a bigger imapct than even our parents do. Sounds like she may have been the one. Take care, and cherish your good memories.

Hey Jill, Aunt Ag seemed really like she lived life to it's fullest. So sorry about your loss. There's got to be more to life than what we see... I just believe it wholeheartedly and I think Aunt Ag would hope to be with you somewhere again as her inspiration lives on in you....(I can tell ). Bless your family and may God grant you the peace you need right now and forward.
