I am painting a dimensioanl sign for a gift for someone, on HDU, & since I have already coated it with One Shot I will probably paint the roses on it in One Shot using Penetrol to blend it.

Would it be possible to use good 'ol fashioned oil paints on HDU to get a nice blend? Or would that not last long on the sign? Also, if I CAN use oil paints, would they work over my One Shot?

Can you guys tell me what each of YOU use for your pictorials?

Artist Oils will work just fine! They may dry flat, but a lil clear will fix that.

I use 1-shot myself, works for anything....portraits, landscapes, graphics.....

might need a little smith's cream or a touch of boiled linseed oil...or just do some dry brush blend strokes

good luck

I do what Dale does.
I have some Smith's if you need it.
And they sell the boiled linseed at Trader Horn!

I have the boiled linseed oil, but I think I need to try this Smith's Cream stuff you all talk about...

W.R., I am in the process of trying to get Porter paint up here, I think I may have to order it from Pittsburgh. Have you ever found it nearby, Jill?

Wow, Dale, you use One to do PORTRAITS????? My goodness, you must be good!

And Si, how does Oil paint hold up in the weather? I am so used to them, it would be so easy to use them, if they would only hold up....

Thanks!

Never looked for it, Bobbie.
You might want to contact the Mayor of Mars. Remember Dick Settlemeyer?
He works at a paint store, Westmoreland Supply. His phone number was 724-443-8400.
(they have since moved to Allison Park but the number may still be good)
He's always been quite helpful in locating items for me.

Bobbie....many of the pictoials on Billboards are/were done with artist oils, with a lil varnish mixed in or as a top coat.

When using One Shot, you can make some nice One shot toners (transparents, candies) by adding One Shot Color to One Shot clear.
I started this practice some years back with the advice of George Perkins. It worked wonderful!
