Here's a link to a conceptual art piece by Blue Sky, a South Carolina artist who does some killer mural work. Check out the rest of his stuff while you're there. http://www.blueskyart.com/articles.php?id=4300

Did you see "overlfow parking" mural on the side of the Flint Journal building?
I've been to that building, probably back in 1984 or 1985. My college roommate was from Flint and he got his first art job at the paper after graduating.
He moved to LA to become a freelance Illustrator and did quite well. His last big gig was Design Director on his brother's movie "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" that his brother wrote and directed a couple years ago.
Anyway....I was at that building but must have went in a different side, because I never saw that mural first-hand. I'm surprised my buddy didn't point that out when he was showing me where he worked at that time.
It says the mural was done in 1978 so it must have been there.
Neat stuff.
How you been doing? Hope you're recovering steadily.

...I define true FINE ART as work that challenges the way we think, and what we already think ART should be. I'd say that guys work definately qualifies.

Todd, Next time I get to Flint, I'll have to look up the Flint Journal building. I'm sure that I have been by it but don't remember seeing a mural.

Good question, Jay. I met Blue Sky several years ago when he was painting a mural in Darlington, SC, and again at a party in Columbia. He's a very "out there" kind of guy and I doubt he would ever tell us how he did it.
Also very cool was the "chain" between the 2 buildings.......

I live in Columbia SC. I visit his gallery here from time to time. I don't think he hangs around here anymore. I spoke to the lady running his gallery and she told me he "moved out to California and added a few 00's to all of his paintings" Columbia is not exactly the most art friendly place on the earth. Blue Sky is definately a top notch artist, his life is his art for sure.
That car park is clever- I wonder how many drivers have driven into the wall, thinking they might just be able to drive up!
Jay- the idea of a squareish helium balloon is possibly the only option-a good thought.

Donald, his level of talent would definitely be welcome at a Letterhead meet, but unless he's mellowed considerably in the last few years, his approachability and friendly disposition don't exist.....
Dawud, I think Ian was talking about the Flint mural, and I believe you're referring to "TunnelVision" in Columbia.
Did anyone read the commentary about the chain he constructed between 2 buildings? Sunday morning guerilla art - gotta love it.

I read the article with the .jpg's! I spent I don't know how long on that site! I was fascinated!
I'm dropping groceries in the yard like mad right now, though. We have rain scheduled this week till Sunday. It'd be nice to scroll the grounds with new growth in abundance! Especially since some of garden (90' x 60') had to be pick axed after the "dirt" ate the tiller LOL!
OP...YOU'LL BE PROUD OF THIS ONE, LORD WILLING!
When I can't be out there, I'm catching up on my interests. Reading and learning more everyday! This sight is a pleasant incentive to plant faster LOL. Calligraphy practice ensues as well! LOL.
