Who says you can't teach a fancy schmancy graphic designer a few new tricks? I had a wall re-paint scheduled, not my layout or color choices, and Bill Berberich and I broke in Stevo today. He took to it like a duck to water. He learned some proper old-time methods and a few unorthodox variations as well. Love...Jill Posts: 8834 | From: Butler, PA, USA | Registered: Jan 2001

Bobbie it's on Rt. 8 in Valencia, right beside the "GOD" sign. The name was Fender Benders but had to be changed to Menders due to a partnership split. We initially repainted it 2 years ago, but this time we had to change the colors and also add the word "center". It was a fun day, and with 3 people (even a rookie) the wall took about 3 hours less time. Bill sez Stevo is an apprentice and I have graduated to a first-year journeyman now. Love....Jill

This was a blast! I think I've caught the Walldog bug now. Bill taught me alot for being just a one day job. He taught me how to do some really cool wet blending and let me have at it on the splashes.
The weather held up pretty good for most of the day. At about lunch time we had a bit of rain, but it let up after the break and then we jammed on it till it was done.
I'd do another one of these in a heartbeat!
Thanx for the compliments folks.

Thanks, Jill, I have a friend that lives near you, & soon as my shop van is ready for travel, I am heading out to see her, & I may look you up. I will watch for the wall.
Did you do it with One Shot? I have never done a wall yet, have bid on one, but my quote was too high. It looks like so much fun, & my husband loves to paint, so he wants to do one, too!

Yes, we used one-shot lettering and bulletin enamels. We priced it at $600 based on the 2000 sign pricing guide and he is one of Jill's steady clients. We used about 50 bux in materials on this project.

Kool wall. What amazes me, is that you actually let Stevo out of the bed room, long enough to do this project! Poor guy must be beat. Not from the wall job either. He had to go to work to rest up?! Hang in there Stevo.

A beautiful job, but why not use ladder jacks and a plank? All that up and down on the ladders is tireing.
