Where did this "FINAL SOLUTION" for the sign industry come from?
Basic laziness?
Microwave Mentality?
Instant Gratification?
New is better?
Technology for all things is good?

Doesn't anyone research facts any more?

I for one, have a HARD TIME taking things for granite because "I heard it on the internet" so it MUST be true!

Next thing you know it will be
Blood is NOT thicker than water.
Paint is NOT more durable than ink, dye,or vinyl.
Design is NOT from the mind.
Humans do NOT tell machines what to do.

I know, I know. Just a "Old Fart" stuck in his ways.Excuuuuuuuuuuuse me

You made me laugh Pat, that's a good thing in my book. At times I wonder about some of those things too. It's a pretty big blend to take in. Imagine yourself working full time for a network broadcasting corporation, doing animated background graphics for their news broadcasts, or some of the way out there commercials. Though the world continues to change, and much of what was, is no longer, it is still exciting for me to see the things come to be, and at the same time, long for the way things were.

Thanks for making me smile Pat.

I wholeheartedly agree.
Go read books, go visit other cultures, go research your design, expand your mind, exercise your brain.......not your 'double click' finger.
Don't just use technology......use technology wisely.

Glad to see that no one took this personal or as a jab towards where they are at in life!
Just trying to get views on IF logic is in play,or
a paradox?

My love for liner art keeps me learning & looking
at EVERYTHING new and old.

I really go for these cutting edge animation movies being made as of late!

OTHER options on this subject matter? [Dunno]

heh,heh....Pat,
you "need" all that stuff you listed to go with yer:
*instant-coffee
*instant-grits
*instant-eggs
*instant-soup (not duck-soup, by the way,lol)
*instant-bill paying methods
(they now wanna take our money directly from our account...
hey, they don't mind takin' US for granted do they [Mad] !!)

I predict the next business scenerio will be
DRIVE-THRU SIGNS
...an' when you rock the boat and ask for your sign sans serif, it'll takes 3 minutes longer than anticipated and they'll say,
"Could you please pull up?...Someone will bring it out shortly?"

It's a fast-food, fast-paced, fast-lane society.
An' [FYI] I refuse to participate in as many ways as possible! [Wink]

Pat havent you seen, this is a " you can have what you want, when you want, society now"

And yes we have been brain washed since babes that newer is better, by advertising, I am having the hardest time with my 5 year old tring to explain to him about these contests on products to win a prize if you buy them.

He honestly beleives he will win if he eats a certain product.

And why not, they do make it so beleivable that you will win.

Isnt is sad he is learning to be deceived at 5.
and that he cannot trust what he hears all the time. I can see the innocense getting sucked right out of him.

LOL PAT!! I been called worse than "revolting"...le'ssee, there's obnoxious, smart-elik, off-the-wall, uh, gee, even sum cuss werds, lol

Yes, that is so sad about our children's innocence . . .but I try to think of it as another way to prepare them for this twisted world, so eventually, you'll have a really wise 9 year old and a very savvy teen an' a well rounded adult.
(uh, this is the plan, hope it's gonna work, lol)
The really hard part is how to teach them the incredible virtues of honesty while havin' to always make them aware of dishonesty.

Yes Sheila,

You are so right, the best way I see to do that is to live by example ourselves.
