I am attempting to remove a large decal that had been on the vehicle several years. Can anyone tell me th best product to use. I am using a heat gun with Little Chisler but it is still very stuborn.

Thanks for your help

try a wall paper steamer. I have one that I used to remove vinyl off an 18 wheeler tanker that was full of water, and it worked wonders... i had used a torch and it wasn't touching it.

Heat gun & chisler here. Or those little plastic razor blades. Good luck!

The steamer works really well, but if you don't have one, I have found that a hair dryer works better than a heat gun. The heat gun tends to get the vinyl too hot, and it stretches too much too quickly.

Shirley, another vote for the steamer. I have 3 of them and couldn't live without it.

[Cool]

I use a $45 a $45 wallpaper steamer from Home Depoe. Much easier

I like a steamer for bigger projects too. I know there's a sweet spot, temperature wise, for removing vinyl without leaving adhesive residue, but what brand leaves the least?

Thanks everyone for your advise. I have successfully removed the decals with a heat gun and razor blade. Have been working on these 20 vec
vehicles for about a month now. Still have 4 to go, but decals are not on all of them. This has been a good job. Have had to work around the weather.

Thanks to all who replied.

Steamer works wonders.
I got one online, added a plunger base to the tip and it concentrates the steam and heat. It pulls up the vinyl and the adhesive all together.

Jeff a photo of your setup would be great!

Does the plunger pull up the vinyl?

TIA

Although I no longer have a need to remove OR apply any vinyl (Loving retirement), I would also love to see a picture of a toilet plunger attached to a wallpaper steamer. It sounds like a good idea and I wish I had known about it many years ago!!! [I Don t Know] [Bash] [Applause]
