When I was an apprentice there were a couple shops I visited and did a few jobs in that had electric perforators they made with neon transformers and rheostats. Does anyone remember more exacting details of how this was done?

years ago there was a thread here about a shop made one. I printed a copy but woul;d be a miracle to find it. I have mine here. An old fashioned 5k watt neon transformer (not the new'electronic' type) and 10' of gto cord. Take a bic pen and pull the insides out. Thin metal rod poking out of the end of the pen and gto cord tied to the other end of the rod and then a mile of electrical tape wrapped around it all. Ground to your metal sheet and get to work!
