I know the David Smith/Noël Weber gilding session is hands on. When I asked Dave what I should bring, he said just "bring your brushes". I imagine some are hands on and some aren't.

Many of the workshops are "hands on" and the description of the class should indicate which are and which are not. The one that Gary Anderson and I are teaching is about design principles and will be lecture with examples.
