In my blog world, I was most recently challenged to 'knock off' something. I'm not big on copying anyone, so this was more challenging than I care to admit!

 -

Regardless, I found a lamp I liked, collected a bunch of components and emailed Dan for advice.

 -

He refused to let me go anywhere but his shop. And until I get some welding lessons, I was only allowed to help 'art direct'. (tell him what to do... I could get use to this!)

This Pottery Barn Inspired Junk Lamp / full post here was the wild result of a junker and theme park developer gone a little off the deep end...

[For Your Information] ...with no faux in sight!

A junker's rust is free. [Smile]

The lamp was a massive hit and I adore the thing! Thank-you Dan!

looks great but bolted to floor ok

the bolts are just for show Craig, They have felt underneath so the floor does not scratch. Donna thinks of everything.

Donna,

I checked out your web page several months ago and just Love it!

You've inspired me to attempt a few projects of my own and I spent the summer scouring yard sales for "projects" to work on over the winter.

Love the lamp!

Super cool...I check out your page now and then just to keep up...great looking web site...you've got a wonderful eye for composition in your photos...and of all the other ladies that you link to on your site...what they do...doesn't hold a candle to the creativity of your work.

Yes, Donna's got the magic touch. Really cool looking. (I tried doing some funky junk myself but it turned out looking more like "junky" junk. [Big Grin] )

Well Done, Donna. Your talent knows no boundaries. It must be the aura of the far north. Peace, Don

Like my Hillbilly Engineered butt catcher, which is a rube Goldberg invention of mine....a complicated series of rods and levers that resides next to my swing on a pedestal. Press the side button and the rods and levers make the lid of a quart solvent can open to deposit a cig butt. Kinda like a rat rod version of an ash tray.

I love making useless mechanical things like your lamp. Junkyard or Hillbilly Engineeeered all the way!

Beautiful, but what would you do if you got a order for two dozen?????????????

I really like the HDU carved cat next to it.
Nice!

Classic Chair Duncan, the fabric would distract you from the Pain of that hand crank drill!!

Junky Junk! hahaha Jean! It's all about the camera angle. You can do it!

Rusty, so kind!

Bill, if I got an order for ANYTHING over one, I'd quit! [Smile] I just can't do production work... kills me. Gotta keep striking out on new stuff.

And thank goodness... that lamp weights more than my entire house and Dan's put together!

Thanks everyone, but I couldn't have pulled it off without that Mac lovin' Dodge drivin' router guy down the road.

That is a cool lamp... all except for the bulb when it lights up.

That reminds me of an account I read of a tourist somewhere in Central America who bought a hand crafted item and then inquired about the price for many more. The unit price went way up and he asked, "Why?" The answer he got was, "The first one was fun."

It's dangerous when Donna starts thinking like Dan.

Let's just hope she doesn't start looking like him...we like the way she is now.
