Did a search first but couldn't find anything about it. Perhaps I didn't look hard enough. Any recommendations on applying 2 layers of vinyl on a storefront window. I've done them before but the airbubbles that form on the 2nd layer where the first layer ends is frustrating me. Hope that makes sense. I have tried applying the second layer wet, yeah dont think I'll do that again. Took forever.... I do apply vinyl window applications dry. Thanks for any tips.

Dita,
I would assume you're assembling the graphics before the install? If so, just apply the graphics on site, one layer at a time.
Another option would be to print the graphic [Smile]

Havin' fun,

Checkers

Dry is best when possible.
If you can put the bottom layer on dry, you can do the top layer's wet (lets you slide into position)
Vinyl on vinyl wet sticks way faster then vinyl on glass.

I get the same result when I apply the vinyl together before the window installation. Best way to aviod bubbles is to apply on-site in layers on the window. If you are having alignment issues, just cut out a triangle, (in the same place on every color to be applied), in a couple of corners. Just remove the triangles after you are finished and perfect alignment!

Rapid tac 2 (the green one) is great on glass and helps vinyl go on bubble free. Reg rapid tac for vinyl on vinyl.

Should of mentioned that I do apply the vinyl seperately. I've tried putting layers together at the shop then apply to window with bubbly mess. Did that once and learned my lesson. Well with the info provided I'll give it a try. Doing the windows this week. Post and let ya know what happens.... Thxs

Dita, Chuck is right, Rapid TacII wet on wet.

Most people that have drying or bonding issues have cleaned improperly, only clean with our application fluid and a CHEAP kitchen paper towel, this makes a world of difference!

Here in my neck of the woods, we have high temperature, 90+, and high humidity 90% constantly from June to October. When installing vinyl on the outside of glass, with the inside air conditioning on, there is so much condensation and moisture on the glass that it is almost impossible to get the transfer mask to come off immediately. On some jobs we have had to go back the next day to remove the mask!

Hi Jean, if you just clean the glass with Rapid TacII and a cheap kitchen paper towel then you can wet apply or dry apply and get a bond in just a couple minutes.
the spray the trans tape with Rapid Tac II and when it starts to pucker it's ready to pull off.

Roger
P.S. Call me if that's not working. 800-350-7751

Remove what bubbles you can and the remainder will be gone after about a week or so. I never worry about the small bubbles, they will breath out in a while.

Well here is an update on the window project I did last week. Turned out like a charm!! Rapid tac II is awsome!! Applied the first layer dry using a good quality sqeege, then applied the 2 layer using a light mist of Rapid Tac II. Squeeged well moved on to another section and came back after about 10mins or so. Damped the transfer tape with Rapid tac II and removed. Did have to work some liquid out. I used a felt squeege for that. All in all, it was a trouble free job. Thanks for the tips every one!!
