My Mom's been in Hospice (home care until she passes) for several months now (congestive heart failure)...she's been slipping more and more each day, last night she collapsed on her way back from the bathroom and try as we did we, my Dad and I, my daughter AND Jim couldn't lift her back into bed (she only weighs 120 lbs!) but dead weight is amazingly heavy...

She almost stopped breathing, it was real scary!

Rather than risk hurting her, we called 911 and got help from the paramedics.

They recommended taking her to the hospital...I felt that this could be the end ...it's possible she may be able to come home in couple of days, but it's not certain.

My parent's 50th wedding anniversary is the 28th, just 3 days after Christmas....please pray she will be able to be home with us then.
It's my Dad's dearest hope she will make it till then.

My daughter and I have been getting the house fixed up, shampooing carpets, dusting and polishing (keeps us busy too, so we don't get too depressed)...we've even hired a bagpiper for the anniversary (Mom's parents immigrated from Scotland and we are fierce Scociaphiles)

Keep us in your prayers and thoughts too..
Thanks

A

I'll keep you in my prayers. I lost my Mom to cancer 3 yrs ago this coming Jan. 12, so I know what you are feeling. Look at the good side when you can. You know that this will be your last Christmas with Mom. How many people don't know that and later wish they had done something more than they did? My last Christmas with my Mom was beautiful, bitter sweet, but beautiful. Enjoy every moment you can.

God bless you girl.

Dear Adrienne,

My heart goes out to you.

It's the kindness of the people around you that will sustain you during this pain and sadness.
Hold tight to each other, and treasure the time there is.

I wish for you lots of love.
That's just what it's all about.
I am sure your mom is feeling yours.

Janette

Things are difficult with my Mom now...she gets dementia when in the Hospital....now she keeps asking about a boat...and where is the water for the boat, and she hopes she doesn't miss it......it's wierd...and she is paranoid too....my Dad and daughter were with her for 5 hours today, my brother James and I took over and let them have a break...she is so miserable in the hospital....we stayed till 8pm, and finally left her to (hopefully) sleep.....it was emotionally draining [Frown]

We went home and tried to make the best of christmas without Mom...

We enjoyed a great dinner, cooked by my Chef brother James, we had lobster, de-boned turkey and all the usual fixings, persimmon pudding with meyer lemon brandy sauce for dessert too!

Opened our gifts, lots of fun stuff, we had a good time, but in the back of our minds we missed mom.....I'm sure we all felt a little guilty we were having a good time with her being so miserable in the hospital [Frown]

It seemed as though our being there only made things worse, and she seemed to get more rest when left alone.

Thanks for your encouraging words, it's much appreciated.
