Whoa! Another of us whining liberals right here on the ol' BB? This is the sort of inlammatory response that brings about censorship, Mr. D.
I suggest you check out Si's contribution and see if it makes the same amount of funny if they were both dissing GWB...of course...it wouldn't last as long.

or read the third listing It's even better IMO

Posted by Mike Languein (Member # 319) on :

Actually Doug's "Third" was originally the First link there a few months ago - before it got hacked and replaced by the more imaginatively humorous one that's there now, which could have been written by the Saturday Night Live crew.
An even better one and a quicker read was "The First 100 Days" back in that day - but it has been preempted by a thousand atrocities since and buried in the back pages somewhere.

Oooooh, I feel a NastyGram in my eMail . . . [Eek!]

Merry Christmas to everyone!

During the last couple of years, since 9/11, we have had emotional turmoil and fear levels unimaginable here in the US.

We have ranted between ourselves. When it came to issues that are political, nobody changed anybody elses mind, and lots of heels got dug in on many diverse issues.

The Move-on organization put together a one hour film called "Uncovered - the whole truth about the Iraq war". This film gives us lots of information in indisputable form: It shows movie clips of what what was said to us by our leaders from the top down when they set up our support for the war.
Then it shows what was said to us in order to keep our support in the face of massive death and distruction, as the war and it's premises began to fail.

After the clips, the film shows non- emotional interviews about things factual. Twenty experts. They are credentialed in their introduction to us, as CIA, Pentagon, and foreign service veterans. They speak out with their opinions, and they are worth listening to, because they really do know more than we do.
This video can be ordered here

i luv it when pppl makes all kinds of statements.
especially when statements are made against war. I hate wars and viloence.
However, negative statements against our leaders and policies without alternative measures are nutin but bitchin' and complainin'

How about an alternaitve answer to war? And i request one that wroks. Not some idealog's idea.
Merry Christmas..

Does George Bush make all kinds of statements? Or just false ones...

Did clinton lie, get laid and hummed in da oval office and get impeached or not?????
No need to post a link..

Posted by Myra Grozinger (Member # 327) on :

Curtis, do you read the links, or do you just not like them on principle?
----------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------
To address your questions from my perspective:

The first one, where you asked about alternatives to war that work (or did you mean “rock”):
There are many alternatives. Let's take this Iraq situation only, though.

Except for Britain, just about every large nation with an army thought we ought to explore the alternatives, together. We refused.

We could have been patient and chosen to believe the reports that came in from the international inspectors who said they could not find WMD and said they needed more time.
In our haste we could have refrained from inventing a connection and forging documents as proof about yellow cake from Niger,
we could have chosen not to invent a link of Saddam and Osama in order to deceive the public,
we could have agreed to a few meetings with our allies in which we took them seriously and as equals. All of which would have led to a workable international alternative.

Only in the minds of GWBushes team members was this a situation that called for immediate war, and the annihilation of thousands of thousands of innocent civilians.

Even though (as a sideshow), we finally caught the Ace (rat) in the hole, this war actually is not working at all, is it?

The bible also is full of alternatives to war, because neither God nor Jesus think war and killing is cool.
Nor did Buddha, Mohammed, Ghandi, MLKing and many more.
--------------------------------------------------
You asked and answered your own question about Clinton. Yes he got laid in the oval office, yes he lied about it, and yes he got impeached for it. He may have gotten "hummed" to, but I honestly don't know what that is. Would I like it?
--------------------------------------------------
By launching an unprovoked attack on a sovereign nation, by over and over misrepresenting and changing the reasons for doing it, by killing innocent civilians in Iraq, and misleading about 500 of our soldiers into death so far, George W. Bush and his team have broken international law.

That’s bigger than lying about an embarassing blowjob. No amount of anger on your part,
against those of us us who call it,
is going to change that fact.

The final chapter about GWBush and about his standing in history has not yet been written.

Well, I'd been guessing it might have been because we haven't been calling each other names.
Yet-

But maybe Si is right. After all, I didn't say to kill him - just pointing out what a liar he is.

Well Now

There are more than just the UK backing the US in Iraq. There are at least 27 other countries backing this move and countless others acting behind the scenes.

The reason Germany didn't want the US to goto Iraq is because of the economics invloved. US soldiers going to Iraq left countless German towns literally empty and their economies ruinedand thousands of German citizens out of work. It is not well known that 27.5% of the german economy is based on the US presence. Now their ecomomy is in shambles and the presence of the US military is a little more appreciated.

We all know why France didnt want the US invloved. France was worried the US would not only discover but prove France's illegal secrete violations of the the world embargo.

And finally, it was NOT the US that said WMD was there . It was Iraq that said they had WMD. It was Iraq that refused to allow the inspectors to look for 11 years.

Natural law of consequation applies to all. When it is violated then there is conflict. And now that Saddam is in jail the other Jack Booted despots are falling in line. Just ask Khadafy (SP) how much he and his country will benefit

Read the book "Lord of the Flies" and see what happens when a higher authority does not take responsibility for leading.

Today, I am proud to be living in a country that has the means and ability to be a world leader. I am also astute to know that this debate has waged since the beggining of time and will do so as long as man is on the planet.

It is uncanny that the words used by the Bush Bashing crews are almost identicle to the Licoln bashing during the civil war. And equally identicle to the Washington bashing during our Revolution.

Licoln was bashed without mercy over his Gettysburg address which is now a great classic. Wil some of Bush's words become classic? Who knows?

I think Bush will become a great president when he takes care of the looming health care collapse caused by the liberal policies.

health care collapse caused by liberial policies????? thats a good one.....WE HAVE NO DECENT HEALTH CARE, those that got it pay thur the nose, us that dont have it...tough turkey...while every iraqi is getting better health then you get and YOUR PAYIN FOR IT, while its free to them!!!!! got vietnam vets here livin under bridges.....we here cant give the our troops who come home adaquate health care....the question is who gona care for us....not the countries we are trying to impress our belifes upon..

.

OP thats exactly what i am refering too. The repubs are trying to get some health care thru and the liberals want it to be free to every one,, including illegal aliens..

It's fine to play the Devil's Advocate - I sometimes enjoy that myself. And we all need to keep an eye on Fox/Murdoch News to know what the propagandists are up to. But you have to be careful repeating that stuff because in time you might come to actually believing it.

and you think this medicare bill is a positive.... it is for the drug companies and HMO's, not the people........and you have no idea of the crap that was inserted into that bill when it was passed......not health care related...

Jon,

That is an interesting link! Thank you!

I have heard that Michael Moore's next film will be about the Bush/Bin Laden connection as well.
