I bought a new machine as my old cpu is dying little by little. I was/am ready to install my Flexi 8.62 on it, have the disks and passwords and the dongle. Guess what? Flexi has coded it so it will not accept the old passwords. It refuses the load process. I phoned SAI and they told me that it is out of support time-frame and they won't help me. At all. I can of course join the cloud based Flexi 14 program. Why should I? The program I bought works just fine, but only so long as the old machine lights up. Poo!

Anybody have an answer/cure?

Create an image of your old machine so you can create a VM (virtual machine)and the program will work.

Brian, could you help an old guy understand the steps?

I am not an expert at this. I would recommend finding a local shop to help you. Or you could go and do a google search on creating a VHD from a working windows machine. Virtual Box is one of the one I have used.

I viewed the Flexi 19 webinar two days ago where they were presenting their new font identification program. Afterwards I looked up the company they are teaming up with and found the program is available for $49 without Flexi. I was not very impressed with it either. Comparing it to Grafix Tracer, it's not worth considering. I'd stick with the older versions of Flexi that are not subscription.

So here's the deal. I have a new "NUC" system with Windows 10 and My son (who built it for me) said he thought he could install it for me. Sai said it would not run on/in a 10 environment. Neal installed it with the original disk and dongle with no problem. I now have Flexi 8.62 and 12 running on the same machine. I didn't care about 8.62 all that much but 12, that is, the 12 version that Graphtec gives you, doesn't carry the "distort" feature. Now I have everything working. I'm excited. I have different passwords from different version updates and I think I was using a wrong password. Oh well.

I love it when a plan comes together. Congratulations Gerald. I hope I can finish my time without having to do any of the subscriptions.

I'm glad that you and Neal are working together. Father / son relationships certainly are meant to outlast and outperform any version of Flexi.

Signlab still has their competitive upgrade and a dongle.
750 bucks.
