Hi Folks,
I finally ventured to 'the dark side' and bought an HP latex 25500 printer (the 60" one)

Strangely though there are no drivers for it in Flexi 10, yet they had existed since version 8.2, apparently...

The seller was using Onyx for a RIP and wanted to keep it, so I'm stuck getting something else, and old habits die hard - I still have my Flexi 6.1 CD here...so I ventured to version 10, and am still without a driver.

Any assistance would be appreciated! (Google was not much help!)

Ian it's been a while since I used Flexi 10 but if I remember right you had to talk to them and get the drivers there may have been an extra fee.

Thanks, Dennis...
That's a bit of a nuisance that it's an extra fee, when other printer drivers are in Flexi already, and other companies' software has them included.

Flexi had a latex L65500 driver, but that's only about 40" wide.

I ended up downloading a 30 day trial of Onyx, after 4 attempts (2.2 gig), and getting it going. There's a bit of a learning curve... and some media I had bought because it is useful to have wide white inexpensive vinyl sometimes, isn't much good on the machine- it sort-of buckles as you unroll it, a bit like metallic mylar can do.

Ian, you will have to get whatever you need from SAI Flexi. If you call them they will help you, I find them to be very helpful and accommodating, though you may find the answer a bit confusing. I just went through all the research in preparation for a new HP printer and there are so many twists in the options that I'm still not sure what to do however, I think the best answer always came down to converting your Flexi version to the subscription version with a monthly fee.

There is a lot of vinyl on the market that is compatible with latex printers but when they first came out it was some what limited. The latex printers run hotter than solvent or ecosolvent. If you are unsure be sure and watch it close the first time you use it it may buckle up and cause the head to hit the vinyl we had it on a couple of rolls.

Thanks, Dennis - yes, there's a learning curve!
I'm liking Onyx Production House, but I saw the price of it yesterday $4500 or so!
I think I'll try & buy the Flexi-HP basic version for starters...

Gary, where the workshop is, we have no internet- and I plan to keep it that way! A subscription wouldn't work, I think - besides I prefer the older system of 'owning' it

Ian you may want to look into upgrading your existing copy of Flexi it might save you some money you don't have to go subscription if you don't want to. Flexi 12 comes with the drivers included.

Thanks a lot Dennis.
I just went looking for the dongle & user-ID last night and could not find it...
I've been using Corel Draw for so long.

I could only find our Enroute dongle, so a Flexi upgrade from version 6.5 won't be any good, unless I can upgrade from a non-legitimate version...

It was a legitimate version 6.5 - I'm thinkking I might have given/lent it to someone some time ago when I stopped using it, for Corel, because the person we got to do our wholesale printing worked with Corel Draw, and he often wanted some vectorising done in return, so I learned to get better with it, and given its price, I stuck there and stayed with Corel.

Here's a basic question: what does the 'cloud' version mean?
Does that mean I have to be connected to the internet to use it, and it's not actually 'on' my PC here?
I could not find information to explain the differences- not in any way useful to me!

Anyhow I still keep all the workshop PCs as non-internet machines.
Flexiprint 12 basic doesn't allow the editing of profiles, or creating new ones, which is a shame...

Ian even with the cloud Flexi the actual program is located on the computer but I think it needs to connect to the internet every so often but I am not sure. You could contact them and find out how it works if you are interested. If you use Enroute I think they have some kind of a setup where you can get the two products in a package deal.

Thanks, Dennis.
I'm now just looking at CADlink Digital Factory...

The local SAi resellers are very slow to reply to my simple price query... which does not instil me with much confidence.
