I want to try led's in a single faced wall cabinet I'm welding together. The size is 18 in. high x 9 ft long, 6 in. deep. I will be using Dibond for the back. Would you put the light strips around the perimeter or on the back side? This is the first time for trying LED's, always used tubes. Also what brand works best, I usually buy from Glantz?

We cover the entire back with LEDs. I don't know the brand we currently use, or even if they are satisfactory. We've changed several times. My boss will opt for reduced quality if the price is significantly lower, a view I don't share.
Some of our early cabinets with LED lamps were terrible. Trial and error is expensive.

I hope you are able to get more feedback before spending much money. I would definitely look at some lamps in action.

Look up SignBox II. I"ve done several upgrades from bulbs to LED. They are easy to install and have good instructions to determine how many and how to position for best lighting effect.

Bill, your most cost effective option, and probably best performing, is to put rows of LEDs on the back of the cabinet. There are modules that are designed to go around the perimeter but they are expensive and you are limited to the size of the cabinet that the light will cover. In your case they would work fine but would be double the cost. I usually find that retrofitting with LED tubes provides inferior lighting and also can be expensive if completely re-done properly.
