I'm trying to upload an image to Signs365 and the Corel export keeps changing the size of the image. I am trying to export a 130" x 18" graphic. The size keeps changing to 100" x 13.79". I've created a new file 3 times. I am exporting a vector file as a jpg - have done it hundreds of times before with no problem. I also tried converting the vector to a bitmap and then exporting - same thing happened. Tried going to Corel website - no help there. Any suggestions?

Check over the properties box when you're exporting it. Sounds like it got bumped down from 100%

Jean, what resolution are you exporting the file as?

At 300 dpi, Corel Draw X7 is stepping the image down to 100"x13.79".

At 130"x18", the image will export out at the correct size at 230 dpi.

As a vector file and a raster file, I was able to export it out at the correct size using the PDF export option.

ok I'll ask.....why not just have them use the small, scalable vector file?

Thanks for all your replies. I ended up exporting as a pdf. I prefer jpg because it seems like the colors are truer than pdf. Kissy - it was exported at full size. Glenn, you may have the answer...I'll try bumping down the resolution and see what happens although I don't understand why it should matter. This image was just one line of text on a solid background with two stripes. Whereas recently I exported a banner 1/3 larger in size (94" x 34") loaded with photos, text and special effects, no problem. (Bruce - the vendor wants the image to be full size when uploaded, preferably jpg.) I definitely need more education on all this stuff. [Confused]

Jean, I recently upgraded to Corel x7 from X3. I always send my files to S365 as PDFs, (I preferred the colors that way!) Anyway since I upgraded, my pdfs are always .03" larger than created. I have tried to check all of my settings but can't find any to change. Did you find the sizes were still slightly off?

Interestng...
I've had no size issues, but only recently upgraded from X3 to X5 (I know, I do things a bit behind the times!) but I'm preferring X3 for the speed of booting up...

Though I did have some big issues last year when exporting a PDF from a complex file that had lots of layers. When opened in Corel, and in Acrobat it was fine, but when sent to the printers, various underlying layers masked out the top of the actual file. It was a 44 x 34 inch file.

In the end I exported it as a jpg, all flat, with no problems. We could not work out why it invented the masks otherwise,

but I have found sometimes if the file is bigger than the page layout size, upon exporting, it sometimes gets cropped to the saved page layout size.

Thought I would try to find the answer today from the suggestions I got but no luck. I tried lowering the dpi to 200 - same problem. Also created a new file with the page size bigger than the panel as Ian suggested - same problem. Joy - I also noticed my files get .03 larger, don't know why. I am regretting upgrading to X7 now. I was real happy with the program when I first bought it last December. I went from X3 to X7, paid about $500. Seems like the problems started on the last update from Corel. I'm having other issues with fonts and exporting to DropBox now also. I'm getting no help from the Corel website or support.

I seldom work with jpg files, and I don't use Corel, and I may be thinking too far outside the box, but when in Photoshop, when I import a large jpg and cut the resolution down, the size automatically goes down too. Could it possibly be sizing your image down because the resolution is too low to export it at that size? Just a thought. And I'm probably way off base.

The bleed was unchecked but when I checked the box and changed it to 0 it now adds .04 to the image. I am knocking my head against the wall right now.

Okay, there was another setting in the pdf export settings, it was set to "Selection" and I switched it to "Current Document" and now the added .03" is gone. Hurray!

My mystery is still unsolved. Why does Corel shrink the size of my sign when exporting as a jpg? The file size is small - about half a meg. Full size sign is 130" x 18". After exporting as a jpg it is changed to 100" x 13.79. Exporting as a pdf is correct size but the colors shift. I tried lowering the resolution to 200 and made sure the page size was larger than the sign but I still get the same result. Is it me or the program? I generally assume I am doing something wrong.

Jean, when you are exporting this, in the export dialogue box that pops up, in the upper right hand corner you can change the resolution to: custom, low, medium, high or original. Have you tried changing those settings?

I'm not sure why changing the dpi is working for me.

I'm using version 17.4.0.887.

I've been able to create multiple files up to 144"x48" and export them out with out the resizing issue if I reduced the dpi to 208.

Great!! Glenn, thanks for posting the picture. When you first suggested I reduce the dpi I was doing it in the "Convert to bitmap" dialog box. This didn't make a difference. When I saw your "Transformation" flyout on the Export to JPEG box in your post I tried reducing the resolution in there and it worked! I'm not sure why you can't reduce the bitmap before exporting but I'm happy to know how to fix the problem. Thanks! Joy, thanks for your suggestion too. Changing the quality setting didn't seem to make a difference although it seems logical. Letterville is a great place to get help.

I'm glad I could help.

I could be totally wrong (and probably am), but I think it has to do with a maximum pixel limitation that I suspect Corel Draw has.
