The world is constantly changing and technology drives that ever faster. Staying current is a tough game. I suspect that the competition is going to be fierce as everyone jumps on board. The web makes us compete with the big guys.

I won't be there trying to compete though. Instead I'll be on an opposite path, embracing my passions, striving to become the very best at my game. I'm building an extremely narrow but (worldwide) market for my craft.

This wonderful and modern world of technology can work in our favor too if we make it so.

Was only a matter of time. I like it and could see that being used in conjunction maybe within some 3d signage to make more aesthetically appealing. One Ill be keeping an eye on

I don't see the big concern.

1. This signage falls under the POP category. Never had a call for that type of signage.

2. It looks like this is going to be putting the design of these signs in the hands of the store owner. Good luck getting decent advertising out of that.

3. If you're going to combine TV and advertising, like say at a sports bar, I would stay home and watch. I don't need a flood of ads taking up screen space and distracting me while I'm try to watch a game.

4. I don't see this taking the place of a nice exterior 3D sign.

It looks like they are primarily gearing this toward 'indoor' use. Not much you can do about that.

However with the outdoor TV's they make now - I can see it being a bit of a distraction for road traffic.

But officer....

Guys,

I go further.....I can see the storefront signs being changed, periodically.......Directly from your laptop ( wherever you keep it ) to an electronic sign box, previously installed in front of the store, instead of the conventional storefront sign.......A one time installation, only!

Store owners, for a fee, of course, will be able to change the looks of their signs, at will. Maybe, they will be able to have a different look for each of the four seasons of the year and, also, for some special occasions.......Such as: Halloween, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day,etc......

Just like it is being done, now, with the electronic billboards.

I can see it happening soon.

I am beginning to get the same feeling that we, sign painters, got when The Computer of The Devil 😈 came into our lives.....The Gerber IV !

Thank God, I have been out of the race since the year 2003.....I am out !......Retired !

I can't complain, because I did have a great ride and, along the way, I made some great friends.

Good luck to the non believers !!

RD

P.S.----For those of you who, I know, will think about it.......... No, I do not need nor wish to embrace that kind of technological changes.....All I wanted was to create and paint signs.....which I did.
