It aint win 7, Win 7 is perfect. Its your other software
get corel's font fixer,, FontNavFix.msp that will fix the font problem. Its hard to come by any more,, but it can be found.
The driver driver may be around but you have to hunt around for it.,
It isn't win 7's fault. It's the fault of your scanner company.

Vance...For the font problem, load true type or open type fonts instead of type 1. For some reason Win 7 doesn't like type 1.
My old Canon printer works fine with Win 7 but the old Canon scanner doesn't (no driver available) so I kept the scanner on the old XP machine which is networked with the Win 7 machine.

I have win 7 and a Summa. I save my drawings as Corel version 8 to a memory pen, take it to the xp-puter connected to the plotter and there export from corel to .hpgl. Then open SummaCut and plot.

well, I didn't throw the computer against the wall...it's the learning curve, and the more I learn, the more I like my win7 32 bit. when the time came to install my summa, I called the tech support in seattle. he took over control of my computer and it was amazing to watch him work...downloading drivers, cutting tools, setting everything up to perfection. since I first got my summa plotter, I have always received great help from their tech support...they're the best !!

See, Curtis was right. I have Win 7 on 2 computers and I feel it's by far the best Windows version ever. Too bad they took so long to get it right.

I was going to say, I had Windows 7 installed on my computer several months ago, and have had no problems at all. Now, They've got a Windows 8......apparently they never heard the expression "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Wayne...Call me a sucker, but I'll be picking up a pair of new laptops tomorrow, with Win 8.1 as the operating system.
I love Win 7, but just like I also loved XP and some previous operating systems, it is time to "bite the bullet" and keep up with new stuff. It should keep me entertained for a week or two, figuring stuff out!
Fortunately, I no longer have to worry about compatibility with older sign making equipment and I still have other computers with Win 7 and XP available to fall back on when I need a "comfort zone" fix.

Dave, Corel x4 SignWizard, and Aspire al.l work fine in Win 8, it's just the stupid flyout at the right of the screen and the way it switches between screens that are annoying

I hear ya Wayne...A couple of new things to get used to I guess. But overall, I am not having a hard time adapting to the new environment.
I WAS pleased to find out that the "older" programs I use DO work with win 8.1
