The trip to New Jersey was a fun one. I got to meet Dan Antonelli at last, got to hang out with the Diaz brothers, and give Raymond a poke or two in person. He's promised me he will finally start working on his own dimensional sign for his shop. I look forward to seeing pictures soon!
This week promises to be a busy one. We are trying to wrap up onsite work at the Fox & Hounds project. We still have lots of small directional signs and details to create but that was waiting for the installation and setup of our new four axis router which is happening starting tomorrow!!
To get a jump on things I spent some time yesterday in the shop slinging some paint on two of the identifying signs for the Fox & Hounds. The smaller one which will live at the end of the inside entry hall will go up today and the second, larger one for the gable over the entry will be installed tomorrow morning. These will finish off those two areas of the pub project.
The signs were first routed and then final shaping was done by hand. The dogs and fox were hand sculpted using Abracadabra Sculpt. Then they were painted using Modern Masters Metallic and Theme paints. The signs were a big challenge but also great fun!

Can you imagine the satisfaction of completing such a monumental job like this? Our Grandpa Dan has gone above and beyond amazing, he is the King. Bill

Even though it hurts to say it...Dan is something special. I've admired his work ever since I was a little boy!
While some may get the idea that we don't appreciate each other, please know that behind all that poking is a tremendous admiration for someone whom I consider at the top of our profession. Any of us may not do the type of work that Dan produces but that does not mean that we cannot excel in our own field of work.
And what Mr Sawatzky does isn't the result of magic - he's a tremendously hard worker and his passion is translated into constant improvement.
Hats off to you, Dan.
