We just had a job that we couldn't find a standard scroll bracket that seemed like it would work for the application so with a little design help from a fellow letterhead (thanks Bob Rochon) we made out own. We have done this before to but usually they were just simple ones with a scroll and maybe a bigger plate to mount to the wall or something like that but these were different. I will post a pic after they are painted.
Do people have trouble finding a source for a custom bracket made to your design?
Why I ask is I just got this big steel table and am going to set it up as a welding bench with the scroll bender and a big vice on it. We are pretty good at welding and I have most all of the materials in stock anyway.
I guess I am asking is this a service that I should offer to other sign shops and set up as a merchant here. I think if I did this I don't want to have a pile of stock brackets hanging around it would just be strictly custom stuff.
Thanks in advance. JAKE

Hiya Jake, If you think you can make money at it, I would say go for it because it can't hurt to make sure you're diversified in this economy. However, like OP mentioned, Cam was the first person that came to mind. Hooks & Lattice (a.k.a. the sign bracket store) also does custom scrolls and brackets. And, on the occasion I need a custom bracket, I order mine from a wholesaler that also does some work for me. So there already is a bit of competition.
Havin' fun,
