This is the county in which I reside and run my business (or at least try!).

I filled out an application for a certain job opening at the "One Stop Career Center" here last Monday. They don't tell you who the employer is but are supposed to submit your application and refer you.. That way, they get "credit" for the referral. Over halfway through filling it out, I discovered it was for the wrong job...a tractor trailer driver. So I politely showed the unfriendly lady who somehow managed to give me the right one. I submitted that one and didn't hear from anyone so, since I learned who the employer was from another source, yesterday morning, I paid them a direct visit. They had no record of my application. Went back to the "career center" and they didn't have it either....they apparently lost it. So, for the third time.....I got the job application from the employer myself and took it back to them this morning. [Bash] Maybe they were just testing my resolve...to see how bad I wanted the job?

Now...business is starting to trickle in again [I Don t Know] [Big Grin]

It's a little like that here too.
When things were good....buildings were going up like crazy. Now there are a lot of empty condos and buildings, besides the older businesses that closed up.
The last eight months have been slow. Have several jobs in limbo land, that may never pan out.

Things do seem to be picking up some.
I recently started sending e-mail fliers to some customers, and although I haven't sold any of the sale items, it has gotten me other work.

the problem i see is:
THOSE who are making decisions for the so called govt, be it fed, state or county............ALL WANT MORE MONEY FOR THEMSELVES........wouldnt it be nice if THOSE people would commit to a an INCREMENTAL PAY CUT to help stabilize the economy????
THOSE MAKING $150,000.00 or more take a $50,000.00 cut.
THOSE making $100,000.00 take a $25,000.00 cut.
THEN...THOSE who love spending OUR MONEY, will see what its like to CURTAIL THIER OWN SPENDING...like we down here in the trenches do.
friggin electric company wants 2-10% more per month. THEY just installed ALL NEW DIGITAL METERS here. they do not have to come out and read the meter anymore!!! we payed for them to cut jobs.
schools here take collections from people every year inh a program they call CRAM THE VAN, people buy school stuff at wall mart and drop it in the van.
on the street we live on, has been a 2 lane road forever. has 4 schools on it with cross walks. morning and afternoon its 15-20 MPH street. the powers that be, want to FOUR LANE THIS ROAD, cut thru a neighborhood to connect ot another busy road....and whle they was deciding this, THEY REPAVED THE STREET........which really didnt need it!!!!!!
now the damn banks are going to charge me $4 a month to have use of their DEBT CARD!!!!!! after THEY INCOURAGED THE MOVE FROM CHECKS TO DEBIT CARD!!!! checks are still FREE!
its getting stupider every day.

i belive you would be all for that.....but that money is money i paid into!!! so you need to look elsewhere..........amazing YOU would defend THOSE who make more money then you will ever think of, but in one sentence you would take money from me.
AND you wonder why i see the world as i do.

here they have jacked our damn business licenses up BUT professional pay less, lawyers, doctors and so on. One thing in common the state, city and feds have is instead of trying to repair whats damaged, they keep sucking more and more out the ones left.

we will NEVER return to how it was in our lifetime. and to add to that HOW IT WAS was not very good. It was too good for too long. alot of people got rich, alot of peoples businesses grew beyond expectations, mine was one of those. I however put back and took care of business when things were rolling. Some spent like they were on a las vegas crack binge, they are the ones hurting right now.

All we can do is strap down, tighten up and carry on with what we know. Watch your money and watch what comes in and goes out.
