I have heard that having flash on your homepage affects the search engines. Is this true? What about having a flash slider, is this the same thing? I am working on a new website and wanted to know before I invest any more time.
Thank you!

Personally, I prefer to use a jQuery and Javascript sliders. There are a lot of them out there that have animations that look like Flash. Plus, you won't have to deal with the fact that iPads and iPhones don't see Flash due to their feud with Adobe.

Last time I checked the w3c web standard for embedding flash content was to include a script that replaces the flash content with non flash content when flash isn't detected. Most people simply put in text saying "download flash" however you could also include the exact same content that is in your flash file, just in an html format. This is SEO, and also gives mac users something to look at.

Well, okay I am not a website guru, I just download the css templates from templatemo and use photoshop and dreamweaver to change the site. The css template I am using has a 3d flash slider. It has a piecemaker.xml file.
I really don't know what all this means but if anyone can help that would be great, I could send you the source code if that helps.
If not, then I will just revert back to more of a basic site.
Thanks anyway!
