Sometimes it seems like we have been working on something for days and days with little apparent progress. On the pub fireplace/sign we assembled the wood base, stapled wire, welded steel structure and tied on diamond lath for days on end. All of this part was relatively transparent, and needed lots of imagination to see how it would appear when it was done.
I liked what I saw, but as always there is that little nagging doubt in the back of my mind. Would it be OK?
Today we put on the concrete skin, waited for it to set and then carved in the texture. The result was instantaneous. The trees no longer lived solely in my imagination but were there as big as life!
I love it when a plan comes together!

He's had an itch to do a huge tree ever since he saw that tree of mine laying on the garage... These are awesome! I can't wait to see them painted and whatever it is you put in that hole in the tree. Great work and it's not even close to being done!

Dan, did you get inspired by those trees at the Winnie the Pooh ride at Disneyland? You definitely have perfected that style. Maybe they got their idea from you! Bring on the colors and show me the Magic!

Must admit seeing the picture before of one tree partly done was good along with drawing of boar and gun, but with this far of a progression ...WOW
This place when finished will be a place to visit on anyone's list indeed you rock Dan, your changing the way people will dine indeed.
