I don't consider this off-topic because a lot of us have to have music when we're working. I've been turned on to some great new tunes from you guys and I'm updating my playlist for Plymouth - any suggestions or requests?

Hey Hipster, I'm trying to get my Zune organized for Plymouth too. I took a life drawing class a while back and the teacher played a lot of jazz samba. It was nice to work to. Sonny, you know me and I like everything. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Amahd Jammal and some Sonny Rollins. On my playlists I'll probably have a lot of old rock & rockabilly, soul music, R&B,a lot of stuff from Chess Records & Stax. Somebody just gave me a huge collection of Parliment Funkadellic, so I'll probably sprinkle some of that in. Also some country before it was cool.

here lately I've been listening to live concert recordings from all sorts of artists: Gerry Rafferty in Germany, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings in Times Square (New Years Eve), a bunch of Hall and Oates from various years and venues... all from http://tela.sugarmegs.org/ I've downloaded a few, but mostly just click on the concert and listen to the player

I first heard this piece when it was used for the theme song to the movie "Ordinary People" back in the 70's...I waited for the credits to roll at the end so I could find out what I had been listening to...written over 300 years ago by Johann Pachelbel it is one of my most favorite pieces of music...I credit this piece for expanding my appreciation of music into the classicals...which I previously had little exposure to...
I was introduced to the work of this composer ...Ennio Morricone...the same way... through another movie "Once Upon a Time in the West"...again I waited for the credits to roll...one of the greatest movie themes of all time.
and I could never get tired of listening to this classical piece by Bach..."Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" as performed on the guitar by a young Asian boy.

Bruce- I got to see Blood Sweat and Tears live a few months ago- man, they can still play! The next morning I was still wanting to listen to them, so I did a little search on "sugarmegs" and found a recording of a recent live show- it was the exact same setlist that I heard the night before- I downloaded it, and crank it whenever I need some BST...

Rusty, I agree, the cellos were cool. I'm also liking Imelda May and just scratching the surface on Sugarmegs - a lot of good stuff in there. Another concert site I enjoy is Wolfgang's Vault, which is from the Bill Graham collection. Michael, I love the old Blood Sweat & Tears when Al Kooper was in the band. Jack, some good Jimmy Smith there - thanks. Wayne, when are you bringing the band to a meet? Michael, that's the first banjitar I've ever seen. Brent, your last mix is still in my CD player - lovin' it.
Still checking out the other links, thanks everybody.......

I was just listening to the first BS&T album yesterday and some Al Kooper super session. Small world. Sonny I've got a bunch of that old Filmore west stuff. Hot Tuna, Quicksilver, Mike Bloomfield.
It's funny, every time I follow these Youtube music links I get stuck there for 4 hours. I found some clips of the old David Sanborn "Night Music" TV show on Youtube and I've been diggin' that. He had a good variety of music... everybody from SunRa to Conway Twitty.

"Night Music" was short-lived but one of the best music shows ever on TV. David Sanborn would put the weirdest mix of people on and it always sounded good - check out when he had Dan Hicks and Screamin' Jay Hawkins on. And I hate to tell you, Brent, but when you get into Sugarmegs or Wolfgang's Vault, you'll be stuck for DAYS..........

I shuffle the list. I also have to be real careful not to do anything that resets the list between days, otherwise you would run into alot of repeating songs from day to day. In Danville, I paused the song at the end of the day and then charged my zune in the truck while we were traveling back and forth between where we were staying (I never actually turned the zune off).
