This is a sign crane that I built using a motor hoist. The cost to build it was actually less than $500. I built a platform on top of my truck camper and then bolted the hoist to the platform. Cables were attached to the platform, inserted through the camper top, and then the cables were attached to the truck bed. This is a neat device and it really works! Items that I used to build the sign crane were: motor hoist, boat winch, 25 ft. ratchet strap, 16 ft. 2"x2" steel channel, pulley, and of course...nuts & bolts.
