I have this 1980s model Gerber GSP sprint. It was given to me by my last employer as they hadn't used it in years. It needs a monitor and that's where my problem is . Its an old style monitor plug and I don't have the time and patience to hunt an old monitor down. Is an old model like this worth much? If so How much? Can I find a monitor cheep? I'm pretty sure it only needs the monitor. I think it has a lot of plug in programs so it could be a useful emergency back up. I bought a 24" plotter and hope to get by with that to start. I down loaded a manual for it. It is a console type unit. Many of you may have started out on just such a plotter. I'll bet you wish you had it just for the nostalgic value? Any info would be appreciated. All offers would be considered
I don't know what it is worth, but the Sprint will hook up to a Gerber Edge and that might be more of the type of sign shop to target.
I just "gave away" my Gerber Edge and Signmaker 4B and all the foils for $1000.00, and the SignmakerVB, although working, is on its last leg of its journey. If it breaks down, I know of at least one shop that might be interested in Southern Illinois.

I would say you are wasting time energy and money!
The monitor is Model SM12SF it seems to have a standard monitor plug of the older type on it, I have one on the shelf here gathering dust.
I had it all hooked up when I started out in the early 90's.
I very soon afterwards bought a LMK Program module, which turns it into a "dumb" plotter which you can drive from GA or Omega software, we use it today for contour cutting from the Edge.
Things to look for....the orange centipede looking belt which swivels the knife can lose most of it teeth and make it harder to cut....I was told these were getting scarce these days.
These days you can buy a good friction plotter for very little money, why limit yourself to sprocketfed rolls that are always too small, and often overpriced by suppliers, and in some areas moreso as so few people use it apart from Edge owners.
Using a PC with a link module will give you endless access to all kinds of fonts and artwork, that you can then run through your Sprint or other plotter.
If you really want to get sorted out just using the Sprint then I'm sure a good computer shop would have some old cables or adapters to get you hooked up, we just bought a really old metal box built for wiring up several computers with the old mouse and keyboard, and monitor plugs, but it works great for wiring several stations to the same plotter and just switch a,b,c,d

Say Henry LMK program module where did you get that? I do have as I said a plotter made by APD used to be ANAgraph. Its brand new I just thought as a back up if I could run this sprint. It would be worth a minimum investment.

I'm still running a Super Sprint, it's a great plotter, it'll cut a 50 yd roll and never go off track. As Henry said you can get a LMK card and use it as a regular plotter, I wouldn't bother with the monitor or onboard programs.

OK more reason to try and get yourself an LMK Program module, if you open the lid on top of the Sprint you see the slots for all the fonts, I believe if you get a module you leave one font in slot 1, you then replace the current module with the LMK module its marked on the board as PGM, look in your plotter it maybe that if you got it without a monitor it already has an LMK ´module in it.
Mine says GSP Sprint LMK Prgram module on the side, on the bit you see as you look down in the box it says GA LMK SPRINT PROG.REV.LEV.B and then P43518A
Once you have that sorted you just use the 2 buttons far left Font select and Letter height for online and offline, do you have Gerber software today? There was a similar module made for use with Cadlink (Signlab) software.
I'm sure someone here might have an old module or maybe a supplier has one gathering dust.
