I'm repairing one right now that a guy "scratched". He backed into the sign trying to back down an inclined alley from a bar, swung the wheel too soon and took out a sign for a bank.
He said he'd pay for it and the cops let him off because he owns a bar in the next town and would loose his liquor licence for DUI.
Well now he's having a fit that the bill is estimated at $1100. He said the sign wasn't damaged. Well lets see, snapped off a 6x6, the steel "L" brackets were twisted all out of shape, stringers ripped off the alumalite backer, sign broken in 2 places, decorative hand carved ornaments broken & partially crushed. Now the sign was face down and he made the determination that the sign was not damaged.
The sign would be $4000 to replace, he's getting off cheap.

LOL Sounds like the day I called my husband and told him I put a small "dent" in his car. It was actually a HUGE "V" shape in the entire hood where it ran into a tree. I was out of the car on a steep hill getting the mail and I heard this "POP" noise as the emergency brake released. It was like one of those bad car insurance commercials you see. Thank god it hit the tree because otherwise it was headed straight for a huge bay window in the front of the neighbor's house!

A few years ago I had a customer call saying that her two week old sign was "really messed up", I head over there and one 4x4 post is broken, the alumalite is sheared from the other post. No tire tracks so it wasn't a car that ran off the road, but they had a strange muddy smear on the sign about 18" tall in one area. We finally put two and two together....this was the day after Mardi Gras, the muddy smear was about butt height of a full grown horse....and the mardi gras run came back into town down her street with about 500 very drunk horseback riders.....
