What brand of router bits do you like? I'm using them mostly to put a molded edge on my signs. Pine is my main wood and I hate sanding cross grain tears!!!!

How can pine dull a carbide bit?????

Thanks in advance.

I have Belin bits here (french). Crown is another.

We order most from Sally Hunt at ITC in the UK www.itc-ltd.co.uk give her a call she will always help out with advice and may even send you something to try.

It was Terry Colley that put me in touch and she supplies a large chunk of the UK and part of the European sign market.

The bits hold up really well, and they have a very broad range, and will tool to your needs.

Henry

I order in Onsrud and Buy Bosch Local. The Onsruds are the far the best bit I have ever used.

They have a great Tool finding system that will match your bit to the type of material your cutting.

Thanks Everyone,

No luck!!!!!! I've discovered that I should be using a High Speed Steel bit for pine....not Carbide.

I will be using these bits in a hand held router so the bits need a ball bearing guide. None of the companies above make them......bummer!

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Robert,

As I said from the beginning, I'm using edge molding bits. I don't need straight flutted bits.

I'm cutting a simple cove or a chamfer with a hand held router. What I need is a high speed steel cove and chamfer bit with a ball bearing guide.

I'm not having much luck.

Ohh Joe sorry about that. When you said moulded edge I was thinking Edge striping. Not Cove or Corner round.

JOE

I missed your parameter.....ooops

Here is what we did before getting the inverse pin router where we could use steel bit/no bearings on shaped wood.

 -

Hope this helps....oh...and I would suggest 3/8 shaft on 7000 rpm router with an adjustable 3/8 guide pin. Then there is ample stiffness for precision routing.

It works great when ya don't have the 14g's to lay down on the pin router....
