Dearest Letterville neighbors,

Thank you so much for contributing to the 'Pat Loves Bobbie' thread.

Yesterday, Bobbie printed this thread and took it to Pat. It brought him laughter, a sense of being and above all, we were all there with him. Bobbie said, 'It was perfect!' She, thanks you, from the bottom of her heart. Thank you, Steve & Barb, for giving us Letterville.

At 5am this morning, Pat's spirit rose into the heavens.

The Moose Lodge, will host a memorial in Pat's honor, on February 6th, at 2pm. Currently, I do not have the address.

Pat's desire was to be cremated. When plans are secured, his remains will be placed at a family plot in McCalla, Alabama.

Bobbie, is doing as well as can be expected. Coping.

Here is information to contact Bobbie King:

124 NW 50th Ct.
Pompano Beach, FL 33064

954-725-6151

With this news, my heart is heavy, though my thoughts are filled with the countless joyful memories, Pat and I share. What a paradox. I know, Pat would rather I laugh, than cry. He, is with his creator. Peace be with him...

Bobbie, my heart goes out to you. I'll be in contact and am only a phone call away, if you should need anything.

Cher.

Pat had 3 loves in his life. His God. His sweetheart Bobbie and Letterheads. He was a teacher, willing to share with all. I'm looking over past photos and most have some new Letterhead with Pat, learning to letter. This one really hurts.

Pat's meet in Alabama was the first one I went to. He bet I wouldn't show because it was right after 9/11 and I was stressin'.

He took the time to do whatever was asked and answered questions without hesitation. He drew my name in the first panel swap and made his trademark mirrored lettering that looked like a tiki to me.

I'm bummed that I didn't get to the other post in time to let him know I appreciated him for being such a great guy!

God speed Duckie!

I was on my way to the board when another head called & told me the news.

He was definitely 1 of a kind. His enthusiasm, way of looking at life and of course his sense of humor. First memory that came to mind after hearing the news was his giving directions to the hotel to the heads that got to his meet the night before.... go to where the school used to be, before it burnt down 10 years ago & turn left. That was after he told us "you can't get there from here".

Think I need to be alone the rest of the day.

That is awful news. I knew Pat had problems with liver damage from hepatitis, but I'm shocked to hear he has passed away. I'll miss him.

I first met Pat King in Belvidere in '97. He was working on Elaine Wallis's American House wall; having driven up to Illinois in that old station wagon he had painted with purple One-shot. The jokes and funny stories never stopped pouring out of him, he had the whole crew in stitches. Later he said that coming to Belvidere and being involved with Letterheads had changed his life. I know he had a part in changing all of ours.

It's real hard to think of him not with us any longer. My condolences to Bobbi. [Frown]

I will be praying for Bobbie. And if there's anything I can do beyond that I'd like to know.

What a sad day for fellow brothers-of-the-brush. Pat was here at our Letterhead gathering just a little over a year ago.

He's was truely one of a kind. Words fail to express the empty feeling inside. Another legend has gone home.

One of the kindest, creative, enthusiastic, and most unique individuals I have ever met and will be truly miss!

I will cherish my Pat Memories (apron and totem pole) and how much he spoke of his endearing Love for his childhood sweetheart!

If I leave this earth having touched half the hearts that he has, I will leave blessed!

Bobbi, and fellow 'heads, our deepest condolences on your loss.

Letterville's flag is at half mast...

Actually the flag is the infamous 'dayglo' paint spattered coveralls.....

A moment of silence is observed......

ps Steve and Barb, how's about a new page 'Heads Wall of Fame'. Pictures of past 'heads', imposed on a large brick wall with a partially completed mural???

Oh my gawd this hurts inside and out to hear this news, and my heart aches for Bobbie. Death is "natural" but it doesn't mean it is any easier to DEAL with.

I feel like I've lost a relative. I'm so sorry to hear this, for Bobbie, but I am so glad for her that she had the time she did with him. Their's was such a romantic novel but real life love.

I can imagine Pat having access now to colors we can't even imagine exist! Paint the skies Pat, paint the skies.

My sincere condolences Bobbie~

Judy called me while I was on the road traveling to a job about 20 miles from here . . . sort'a out in the country away from people outside . . .

Plenty of time for reflection . . .while riding and working.

Could'nt help but think how I had just talked to him on the phone not 2 weeks ago and thought he sounded incredibley weak in body, but incredibley strong in mind.

He gave God the glory in all things and for the special favor of, discovering after they moved to Pompano that, the Liver Center was very close to their home.

He spoke of faith.

And when he talked about the things he wanted to do in the future his voice strengthened.

Sometimes it's hard not to ask the Lord why.

If Pat were to answer that he'd say,
"Because God can see other things, and has other plans . . . .hope this helps."

I was fortunate enough to meet Pat and Bobbie at the Duck Soup meet back in September of 2001.

I left there feeling like a part of a family, one that I could never imagine would be so large. Everyone here and all my other brothers and sister of the brush that couldnt be there are a part of this family I speak of.

Some people will never realize how much of a loss this great family has suffered. Those of us that had the chance to meet Pat and even had a chance to learn something from him even if it was possibly only to enjoy his wonderful personality or to learn how to handle a brush that he always made look like a magic wand. Will really miss such a great man. I can only think that Pat is up there somewhere looking down upon all the wonderful people that have touched his life in one way or another and somehow he will be up there teaching us in his own subliminal ways.

I know tonight I will be taking out a paint brush and painting something with it as a way to show thanks to Pat for giving me a chance to paint something that I might have been too shy to try had I not attended Duck Soup.

Pat your definitely one of my letterhead heroes and you will surely be missed by all of your peers.
