Four full days and 4 half days working off 16ft scaffold!

 -

The original awning and hoarding was red and covered with foam letters glued on with silicone and screws. Took two days just to clean down, undercoat and paint white enamel.

 -

The five logos were traced out on newsprint thru my plotter and "carboned" on the back with a block of charcoal. It only took a few minutes to trace on with a pencil and ruler. I find this method a lot quicker than a pounce, especially if it's only a one or two off pattern. The paint is Solver Enamel (our equivalent of one shot). We double coated the orange because of the severe UV we have down here.

 -

My daughter finishing the last side of the hoarding. It was a real bitch trying to get the trestles into that garden and stable enough to work on. The shrubs were chest high!

NO ... we didn't make a spelling mistake! 'Tire' is spelt 'Tyre' in Australia [Smile]

And a job well done, too.
I bet the glare from painting on that bright white was a real eyeball-burner!
Still, I love painting outdoors, and I bet your weather was beautiful.

Lovely neat Job! Why do plants always get right where you want to get!
Great big trestles too..More like working at a circus than signwriting.

Nice job Jon...but couldn't you get those tressles a little further apart so the plank had to be wired on...I'm sure Viki would feel much more secure! [Wink]

Monte ... we couldn't get the trestles any closer together because of the dense shrubbery under the sign. But there was at least 6" of plank over the rungs. That top line only took less than 15 minutes to mark and paint before we could descend to the "safety" of the lower rungs!

Vicki started on the left end and me in the middle. That way we didn't have the combined weight in one place. We just didn't "bounce" around. We told each other when we were going to move. It's great to have a partner you can trust at height!

And the trestles were tied off to the sign frame which helped stabilise things too.Because the rungs ended up on different angles we packed towels under the plank to level it. Provided more security against it moving too.

Our safety regulations now require double planks, safety rails and braces above 8ft! How the hell were we to get that lot in there?

I was thinking that plank looked a little scary, over here in California you have to have a saftey harness over 6' or get a hefty fine...nice pics
