Thought I would drop a note and say hello since I picked at some of your members' brains last night in chat.
I have researched cutters for about three months now, and have read many of the threads here and have learned some things I never thought a cutter could do. I really think its the next tool I am looking for!
I have been doing computer case mods for some time now, and I thought vinyl would be the next logical step for my designs. The added benefit of being able to create designs in stencil for painting is really appealing as well. (I can be artistic inside the computer, dont expect me to be able to do anything in real life)
I have e-mailed with Dan at Beacon and they recommended the Graphtec CE3000-40 (15") cutter. I believe i'm going to pick this one up pretty soon. I researched the Stika some more and the limitations worry me. I always like to leave both ends open in case I extend my horizons beyond small graphics.
Thanks again for everyones' help last night - even though I will never be a full time pro with this stuff! I do hope to make a few bucks with my creations on my spare time!

Wanted to post now that I have my Graphtec installed and working.. This thing is nicer than I can imagine. I have tested lots of different sizes of fonts and graphics and have found the threshold of 'do-able' and 'weeding nightmare'. Even managed to apply a few graphics (dry) to some innocent objects within arms reach. Flat and curved all worked great. This machine will certainly fit my needs.
Thanks again to everyone in chat who steered me in the right direction. That guidance plus a helpful BeaconGraphics staff has made this a pleasant experience with immediate results. Of course though, practice makes perfect!
